No room to 'hide' files in my office. This looks nice in the space. Turn it around to look like a poof and use it to set stuff on. Roomy, sturdy. Definitely will buy another when I need it.

If you are truly wanting to use these boxes for files or if you need the lids - then DO NOT order. The lids are about 1,5 inches too wide for the box. Very odd.This box met my needs for a "catch-all" under some shelves in a closet and I don't have to use a lid so I can live with it.The size and color met my requirements.

Lid won’t fit on top if you use this as a hanging file box with manilla folders inside. The slides are plastic instead of metal. Otherwise it’s a nice looking box.

I ordered these boxes to use with hanging files, which is what they're designed for. They do their job very well. I chose these over other models because they had the plastic rails on the top edges, which protects the box from the metal file hangers. I also prefer the lids that are fully removable, since it gives you the option of nesting the bottom of the box inside the lid if you need to keep the top off. It also gives you the option of not using the lid at all. The boxes are sturdy and look sleek on the shelf, and the color is nice, it blends in well with the office.The con: The only thing I was disappointed about is the lids are a little bit bigger than the box, enough that they almost look too big. They also take up too much space on the shelf. I can fit both file boxes on one shelf, but not if I want to use the lids, the lids make the boxes too wide, so I have to use two shelves, one for each box. This of course will be different for everyone, since shelf sizes vary, and the boxes are only too big by about a half inch. I realize the lids have to be a little bigger to be able to fit on the box, but there appears to be a significant overhang. It's not a deal breaker, but I wanted to mention it in case it would be an issue for others.
