I bought this to mount to my carport to use as a winch that lifts my canoe off of my SUV and raises it to be stored near the top, under the cover. I mounted pullies and ropes to get the job done. The winch works, but the canoe is much heavier than anticipated, and I kinda wish I'd gone with an electric one now. But, as stated, this one works and I bought it for the price. I did have to replace the steel cable with rope, and it has two ropes wrapped on it instead of one (front and back of canoe), but I can't complain, it does what it was meant to.

This is a tough winch, it claims a load capacity of 600lbs, but I suspect it is much higher. I snapped a 800lb carabiner I had attached to it and it didn't give way first.Good solid product at a very reasonable price.

although the bolts were a bit hard to install, not impossible, the winch works great i use it for my shade sail, they are mounted on some 4by4's and with the winch it makes it easy to tighten it or take it down.
