Insects are hunted by fish in the wild as they offer a widely available food source. The instinctive feeding habit is the foundation behind Bug Bites, which are formulated with nutrient-rich insect larvae and enriched with multiple quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements. Most freshwater fish are omnivores and regularly feed on insects in the wild. However, not all insects are created equally when it comes to a fish’s diet. Bug Bites are formulated with sustainably harvested Black Soldier Fly Larvae (#1 ingredient across all formulas), which are raised on fruits and vegetables for exceptional “super food” nutrition. Using a unique cultivation process, BSFL are grown under controlled conditions for total sustainability that preserves natural environments. Under controlled conditions, Black Soldier Flies produce larvae, which naturally feed on decaying organic matter. Unconsumed fruits and vegetables are used as larvae feed. The larvae consume the feed, converting the nutrients into protein and healthy fat. After a 2-week feeding cycle, the larvae are harvested and dried. The dried larvae are mixed with other high-quality proteins, vitamins, minerals and trace elements to offer a complete and balanced daily diet. I always feed my fish bug bites. They love them! There’s always a frenzy in the tank when I drop them in. My fish stay healthy and live more than expectation so this food much be doing a good job.

Nice pellets, not shaken up into dust. Fish love them. They sink pretty quickThere are great for small cory cats and loaches. For larger plecos and loaches, too small. These are about 1mm to 2mm in diameter. Good price, good product, so these will be used along with larger pellets in my 100gallon.

I am now buying the larger food and crushing with mortar and petzal to crush for my neons and ember tetras. Saving about Half of what the same formula cost for the bug bites for smaller fish.

I know why they have it varied in size... but honestly, if rather it be more consistent. Can crumble a bit on my own if needed. First purchase was the small, but returned as it was mostly dust and just a filter nightmare unless you're feeding fry. Medium to large works for my molly and tetra types. Will continue to buy because i believe the quality is there and they enjoy it.
