The cap is just like OEM, but rattles off. The oring installed is way too small, so the cap unscrews itself and falls off while mowing. I ordered a thicker o-ring and it works great now. This is what I ordered: uxcell Nitrile Rubber O-Rings, 39mm OD 33mm ID 3mm Width

Every now and then chaos strikes while doing random household chores. In hopes of alleviating some stress for my hubby, I decided to surprise him with mowing the lawn. Thanks to mild heat stress, time crunches, and a jungle of a yard, I managed to lose the gas cap. Fortunately this was in stock, had next day delivery, and arrived earlier than anticipated. And like all good chaotic moments, the original gas cap was found after replacing it with the new one and having finished mowing. I am now the proud owner of a spare for future mishaps.

I have lost the stupid gas cap two or three times mowing underneath my citrus trees. Because the gas cap is a quarter turn to tighten it down a tree limb will grab the little strap that is supposed to keep you from losing the gas cap and it will pull it off the mower. Needless to say once it falls off the mower you don't notice it's missing until you run it over.If you don't have low trees you probably will never have this problem but my Meyer lemon is a 50-year-old miniature lemon tree it's probably 20 ft around but it's only 5 ft tall the Bermuda grass grows up around the edges so the mower gets sent underneath the tree anyways that's another story. The gas cap fits the gas tank very well since this is now the third gas cap I've had two OEM Briggs & Stratton caps and this one I would say this one is a slightly snugger fit than the Briggs & Stratton caps I'm hoping that it won't get tore off again and even better I'm hoping that I won't make the same mistake for a third time but only time will tell. Overall I would recommend this gas cap as a replacement cap for your Briggs & Stratton engine lawn mower.

Liked the quality, it did not stay put on my mower and ended up in the blades and in pieces.

I have a 550ex engine and this cap clearly says it is for that engine (among a few other models). It screws on, but is very loose. After about 3 mowings, I have lost it and cannot find it in my yard. If you go under a bush or anything like that it WILL pop right off and go bye bye.The problem is these caps do not come with an o-ring at the bottom (as they're supposed to). But it's not just this brand, but all the aftermarket brands do not come with the o-ring. So the solution is to go buy you a 1-3/4 (OD), 1-1/2 (ID) X 1/8" thick o-ring. Put it on the cap at the bottom and your cap will stay on. Try it.So I don't really blame these aftermarket manufacturers as they are just designing the cap exactly as the original came. I blame Briggs and Stratton for a crappy gas cap design. (The original cap fell off just as easily). They really should have recalled these models because literally everyone complains about their gas caps falling off and it really makes owning these mowers a major PITA. I want to pull my hair out every time I mow.I don't know why it's so difficult to engineer a gas cap that stays on - you know like we've had for 100 years. What is up with this quarter turn business? Are people really so lazy that they can't do 3-4 turns for a tight fit like we've had for decades? I just don't get it. Whoever the engineer was that designed this should be fired and never work in the industry again.

My OEM one fits loose always leaking gas out of cap . It never felt snug after tightening . This one is money with a different gasket design. Very pleased .

Be sure to remove the rubber gasket from your old broken cap to use on this new cap. If you lost the old one this one will fit loosely. Not sure if that's ok.
