These indeed are strong. They are what you want for powerful fish. I tie clousers on them for striped bass.

I use these hooks to tie crab flies for permit and bonefish. Like all Gamakatsu hooks they come out of the package super sharp. These hooks are extremely strong (I believe they're forged) and have a good hook gap that allows plenty of room for a good hookset on patterns like a Bauer crab. Dip them in some fresh water after you cut it off of your line and let them fully dry before putting them back in your fly box as they will rust.

My go-to hook for all FL flats fishing. Tie everything from clousers to surf candy on these. Deadly sharp and strong enough for powerful fish like False Albacore.
