Over all the handle is well made. The biggest complaint that I have is that it is extremely bulky for the size of the head that it is supposed to fit. I had to do a lot and I do mean a lot of trimming to get it to fit a 1 1/2 pound hatchet head.

These are actually very nice replacement handles. They are the perfect size for most styles of camp hatchet. Make sure this is the style of handle you need, but it is quite universal. It is made out of a very nice piece of wood, and has a very nice finish on it. It is a great weight, and very easy to work with. Great product, great price, highly recommended.

I ordered this to use with an old axe head I've had for years. The handle is rustic looking, which is what I was looking for. Not saying it is handmade, but it does have some obvious hand finishing done so that it doesn't look like every other axe handle out there. It would also be a good candidate for modification, or easily leather wrapped. The handle is smooth and feels great in my large hand. IMHO this would be hard to beat for the price.
