I got this compost bin to expand my existing compost bin to cover a bigger area. It works fine for that. I repurposed my existing compost bin to keep my dogs away from my grapevine so they do not eat them and needed to expand the area covered. The bin seems like a more effective solution for the money than the fencing I saw available. I have tried the wire fencing that comes in a roll, and the bin is easier to work with and seems more effective.

I would have given the basket a 5 star IF THE BASKET WERE MADE OF THE SAME SIZE STEEL as the support system. It's easy to put together and HOWEVER it's bending under the weight of my wet compost. I just wish the basket was bigger steel. The system can be used to support vegetation and that is probably a good choice.

Works very well for our needs. Compost for our yard, easy to assemble and sturdy in rough weathers!

Simple, cheap, and it works. Some of my grass clippings fall out, but it works well for compost

We wanted to relocate our compost pile to a sunny spot adjacent to our veggie garden and are happy with the size and ease of setting up of this bin. Have been using it a few months now with no problems.

I bought (3) of these to construct a (2) bin system separated by a storage bin in the center for hay or leaves to layer with the compost. These kits made it easy to construct. I was not impressed with the gauge of the wire - it could have been a little sturdier for this application - which was a highly customized use of the product. I used (2) complete bins, and only one panel from the 3rd bin between them. I added 1/2" hardware cloth around 4 sides of the 2 complete bins, to keep the neighbor's dogs from digging between the wire, and I added a roof over the center section to keep the hay dry. I also added additional u-shaped wire stakes to anchor the bins to the ground, as the dogs would have made short work of the corner anchoring system. So, these kits were a good (albeit overpriced) starting point to get me the composting system I wanted. Being able to completely disassemble the bin by pulling the corner hinge pins is a nice feature (which I ruined by adding the hardware cloth) when it comes time to dig out the compost.

These compost bins fit the four criteria I had: affordable price, ease of assembly, longterm durabilty, and air flow.I put these together by myself in minutes. The pins on each corner slide down through a series of loops and lock the whole thing together and anchor it into the ground. To move, just pull up the pins and relocate the bin. These are coated with a shiny black finish and might rust a bit over time, but they won't deteriorate and rot out like a wooden bin. Here's the only negative and it's fixable. The spacing between the wires on the sides of these bins are too wide and do not hold in your compost material very well. I went to Lowes and bought 2 rolls of fencing material with a small square grid pattern. I wrapped the 3 outer sides of the bins with this and secured it in place with zip ties. The added screen holds in all the fine particles and compost perfectly. I'm able to lean over the sides and turn everything easily with a pitchfork. As far as critter control, my bins are inside a garden area surrounded by a 6 foot deer fence. Always cover and bury anything you put in a compost pile under some sort of soil or other natural material. I used 2 bags of Black Cow manure to get my compost pile started. It not only helps things break down faster, but it also hides the smell of your veggie and fruit scraps. Cutting your scraps up into smaller, more easily biodegradable pieces also helps the process go faster.Along with recycling, composting really helps cut down on what ends up in our landfills. Highly recommend!!!

My NYC daughter sent this to me to replace the one I'd had for a little over 20 years. We have called it a compost corral for years, and it works very well. I add clippings to it regularly, turn it regularly and harvest black gold at the end of the season. It is just good stuff. Read up on composting, get a good turning fork and a thermometer, and you'll have a very useful final product. My plant beds are well maintained and healthy.
