The quality of the sockets are great, but they aren’t as low profile as I had hoped. Compared to my bosses snap on set on the right, the gear wrench looks like a 3/8ths socket, these will be very useful but will still need the snap on socket, sockets are great otherwise but not for confined spaces. Pictured is the gear wrench 8mm socket vs the snap on 8mm

I’m a mechanic for a living and own plenty of SNAP-ON tools. However when it came to needing a set of Swivel sockets I couldn’t bring myself to pay $600-$800 for one set. And I already own plenty of gear wrench tools for all my at home and mobile mechanic needs. So I thought why not try this set for at work. And I must say they have surprised me at holding up to lots of abuse without any hiccups thus far.I use them all day everyday and have most definitely put them beyond the limits and force they were designed for but yet they have not had one fault. For $75 compared to the $799 I would take this set any day over the outrageous tool truck brand. Also not to mention it has held up and performed just as good as well.If your on the fence wether or not these will perform well and hold up don’t be! Because if they can withstand the abuse I put them through on a daily base in the mechanic industry then they will definitely hold up for whatever task you need them for!!

Don't use these very often but when needed they are the only tool for the job. Beats any tool truck brand at a fraction of the cost

For a tool that’s not pro-grade it’s pretty well made. Holds up great, the sockets are sleek clean in design and hold the corners of the nuts really really well for them not being 12 point. I got these and put them on 1/4” locking extensions and they’re my go to sockets!! Love them!! I won’t say they’re like snap on but honestly, they’re 1/4” guys, who cares! They work amazing and the quality is really really impressive!

Exactly what you need for tight spaces. I have recently tried a Gearwrench socket set for my travel bag for one of my vehicles and they were so good I added a couple other sets to my watch list. When the A/C compressor clutch went out on my GM truck (just out of warranty, stick to high quality parts) I didn't want to suffer through pulling those 15mm bolts out the hard way again so I added this to the parts order. It couldn't have worked better, even in the very tight and awkward space (a low profile ratchet helps too). Even though 15mm (the biggest in the set) is huge for 1/4" and it's a swivel it held up to breaking all the bolts loose and torqing them back up. The alternative is a thin profile 12 pt wrench 1/16 of a turn at a time (for 2" of thread), thanks 4wd... It's not something you will use every day but awesome just the same. It makes it easier to get to fasteners you would otherwise use a wrench on so I have used it more than I thought I might, especially since they aren't floppy like a swivel extension usually is (although a piece of tape can fix that). The rail it comes with is nice enough I priced out buying them for other sockets (forget it, they are plastic, not gold like the price might indicate) and very compact for one that actually stands up on its own. The sockes are very shallow so yo don't get to admire the quality of the fit as much as you do on the regular sockets (or mid length which I also purchased) but the chrome is very nice and the fit is good.If you are considering these and have the storage space just buy them. It's better to have them before you kill yourself taking out a bolt and then ordering them after the fact. I was considering the 3/8 set but I have 1/2 impact swivels and I think if you have the room for the 3/8 you probably can fit the 1/2? Tough choice...

Let me start off by saying, i am an automotive technician with about 4 years of field experience working at various dealerships. I have purchased quite a bit of tools from gearwrench and have never been disapointed. First thing, the sockets do not come in the blow molded case as shown in the picture, but instead come on a plastic rail which is not the end of the world, and does not justify rating this lower than 5 stars. First time using these sockets on a job i was extremely pleased. The sockets fit extremely well and the universal joint is very fluid in movement with no stiff points during flex. I have been using these sockets for a couple months now and have not a single complaint. I use these sockets on my Milwaukee cordless impact gun and cordless 1/4" ratchet. These sockets are extremely strong for their drive size, and i have not broken a socket yet nor have i loosened up the pivot pin. These sockets work perfectly and get me into some tight areas that a normal univrersal swivel wouldn't allow me to. The only thing that i did notice was that the 10mm socket was a little longer than the rest of the sockets, but i haven't had any issues with space confinment due to the longer socket size. I would absolutely recomend this set to anyone looking to purchase a socket set like this. Compared to snapon and matco, there is no possible way you could go wrong with these. Purchasing this set instead of a snapon or matco set will save you almost 400 dollars since the price from the competition is over $420!! There are other socket sets just like this one, but at the end of the day, GearWrench's warranty is extremely good and warranty their tools for life!
