All three sands bands were useless. This one flew off before even touching what i was trying to sand. The other two lasted a moment or two before doing the same. The sound changes during use even when the work being performed didn't change which makes me think it is struggling when all I'm doing is filing dog nails. It is pretty heavy and hard to hold.

This is a good rotary tool but all of the small bits it came with were bad/expired. Every cut off wheel was broken and that sucks because I needed those and correct me if I’m wrong but part of the price is the kit.TLDR it’s a good rotary tool but do not depend on the cut off wheels it comes with. Buy new ones.

At first glance this seems to be an excellent tool, nicely finished and solidly made. We have purchased these tools in the past and have found them very rugged. These were older models so we're hoping for better reliability. The tool has one very large advantage in being the only pistol grip grinder we could find in its size and price range now that Dremel is not available. Additionally the removable battery with a separate charger is a majorpositive feature. The tool has several weaknesses however. 1) The grip is not as comfortable as the Dremel was, and as a result the tool in not as maneuverable. 2) At higher speeds it is very loud and vibrates substantially. 3) The switch/speed control is inconvenient and requires two hand to operate. All in all this is a very nice tool for the money. If it proves to be more reliable than previous models it would probably merit five stars in spite of its faults.

This tool came with 40 bits and it has a variable speed control wheel to dial in the speed that you need on the tool. I used it to try my hand at etching glass and I was satisfied with the performance of the tool. I'm hoping that I can start selling some custom etched glass ware on etsy or amazon. I bought some stencils and hope to try it out some more.

As other reviews have indicated this tool has a problem with the power switch. I don't know why out of all the things that could break on the this it would be the power switch. I was willing to take a gamble on this because it so so cheap. I'd figured the motor would give out before anything. But no the power switch is defective. The main issue is that the internal spring assembly for the switch is very low quality. This really is a simple fix. All you have to do is pop out the power switch. And reinforce the plastic housing around the spring. After that the tool seems to work fine.I did call the number on the pink paper that came with the tool. As this does come with a two year warranty. I talked to customer service and told them the problem. They said to email them the Amazon invoice and they would send me a new one. And sure enough they did. I've only had the tool for a little while so I can't speak for how it will hold up long term. And normally I wouldn't give something that has issues like this 5 stars. But Genesis's customer service was so supportive and fixing the issue was really simple for anyone that is even remotely handy.

There's no reason to purchase a name brand with this available. The speed is infinitely variable with numbered reference points.Honestly, the name brand rotary tools are ridiculously overpriced for what they are: an electric motor and potentiometer. I figured that even if this broke, the internals are so simple, i could repair it. I've used it to trim some baseboard heating covers and had no problems. The included accessories are junk, but will get you started and you can buy quality ones as needed. I found name brand cut off wheels to last more than 4x as long and did not have any shatter. My only complaint is with the shaft-lock button and bit change procedure. It is hard to find the detent to hold the shaft in place and the included stamped steel wrench is likely to be lost (though, obviously, any wrench could be used). I haven't had any bits come out of the chuck though.Overall, great purchase and i would highly recommend it to anyone!

This would be a good deal at more than twice the price. I've used it to cut a few pieces of metal and plastic and it did a better job than a cordless Dremel brand rotary tool I borrowed, which is very impressive for a $20 tool. For cutting a thin stainless steel steel pipe I had the speed set to 4/10, whereas the cordless Dremel would struggle even at 10 due to lower torque. The accessories that come with the Genesis rotary tool are nearly useless, but when combined with a set of reinforced Dremel quick change cutting wheels, this will go through anything that a good Dremel will.

I was very skeptical when I purchased this rotary tool, but I only wanted to use it for light things such as drilling small holes in tiny gemstones. My gemstone holes were turning out great, and then the transmission went out in our SUV. So my husband put this baby to work! He needed to grind off parts of the exhaust when he was putting the new transmission in, and he LITERALLY did the entire (huge) job with this single Genesis rotary tool!I thought my gemstone hole days were done, and never thought I would be able to make a strait hole again. I just knew that after all that pressure he put on this little, cheap machine that it would be torqued and incapable of performing a delicate job again. Yesterday I needed a certain stone that wasn't drilled, so I had to test it out. I pulled out the rough looking Genesis and put it to the test. After I put in the bit I slowly cranked-up the speed, and waited for a wobble. To my disbelief it was as strait as day one! My bead hole was perfect, and I am still in disbelief. It still works like new after taking a beating, and after owning the Genesis for a year is my new favorite tool.

Tool itself seems OK; but for lack of 1/10 cent ziploc All but three of my sanding disks arrived shattered !! Inexcusable lack of care in packaging!! Packing breakables in same pouch as bits and having single pouch loose in box to be bounced about during normal handling illustrates a complete lack of concern in package design. If Rotary tool was designed similarly I will expect it to break on first use. Top of plastic storage tray was also cracked badly; but packing tape makes it usable.Pros: CheapCons: Also CHEAP
