Used a couple 2-in pieces of 5/8 in heater hose and clamped both sides onto canister hose, and vent hose, as hoses were heated on and not coming off. Worked perfectly and cleared truck computer of code. Same OEM part!

For my 2009 Chev Silverado 6 L, it connects exactly like the original. Too bad that the hoses are so hard to get off the old one then to put on the new one but that is not the parts problem that is the manufactures type of hoses . I did wrap the end of the hose with strip of cloth then soaked with boiling water for a couple minutes then pulled cloth off and quickly pulled the hose off holding at the ends. It was still tough to get them off but it worked. Did same to put them on but could not quite get them on fully but on enough should be OK. Shouldn't need to be said wear gloves. I did this on my back under truck, on a lift should be a little easier. Doing this myself buying and replacing saved close to $300 which more than paid for the ODM reader that I used to get problem code.

I am glad I really paid attention and looked closely at the pictures. The part I got from Amazon was an exact replacement for the one I removed.First off, on my truck I did not need to raise it, nor did I need to remove the spare tire. I'm sure it depends on the year, model and trim, but for my truck the evap was relatively easy to get to.Getting the sensor disconnected from the hoses was a bear and I did not want to deal with replacing either of the hoses. So instead I used tin snips to cut the sensor just past where the hoses connect on each side. When re-installing the sensor, I used 5/8" heater hose with clamps on both sides to connect the existing hoses to the new sensor. Out the door including sensor, a foot of heater hose and the clamps was around $25.If I had gone the tin snips route in the first place, this would have been a 15 min job.I've included a picture to give you a better idea of what it looks like with the new sensor installed. The check engine light did not illuminate when after I re-connected the battery and started the truck. I may need to drive it a bit to guarantee this fixed the issue, but I feel pretty good about it because previously I cleared the code using a scanning tool and it always came right back immediately.

Product is good. If your not a mechanic difficult to install. The two hose fitting are sweated on. Also make sure the plug in is the right one. Some are square and others are oblong !!!

Chevy's like to have emission codes pop up if you fill up your tank. So this is the 2nd time I had to change out this part. Part fits fine. I will try not to top of the truck any longer. They claim a full or over full gas tank will cause fuel to find it's way into this valve and damage the seal causing a small leak code to reappear.

Installed this 96553405 part on my 2010 Silverado 5.3 crew cab 4x4 and is a direct replacement (even though it's not listed in the fitment list). Your old vent hoses won't come off easy, just cut them close to the part, and patch them into the new part using 5/8" heater hose. Works like a charm, and a fraction of the cost of the direct factory replacement. Did not need an electrical adapter either, it's a perfect fit.

Awesome price. Awesome price, because it comes exactly as you see it here. There's no lines or anything that comes with, unlike when you buy these parts from the dealership. The installation of this product without the lines is still easy, but you should know ahead of time that the factory unit has these lines shrink-wrapped onto the fittings and will have to be cut off. I simply cut a slit into them, pulled them off, and placed them over the new part with some sealant and new shrink tubing. Only trouble is... it didn't fix my trouble and was a complete waste of time and money. Oops, my fault.
