Originally purchased and installed the factory kit for the Monarch (now Vermont Castings) MLDV500 fireplace. Worked for about six years, and then both fans quit or had problems about the same time. The OEM kit is now unavailable (as are most parts for this no longer produced unit). I found fans and a new kit from a 3rd party speciality (fireplace fan) store. The fans alone were about $90 (versus this one, for about $18), so I decided just to replace the entire kit (including temperature regulator and fan control) for $160. However, the OEM fans route the armature wires parallel to the fan body, where as the aftermarket fans use metal paddles that stick out vertically from the fan body. The upshot is that the aftermarket fans didn't fit inside the small 4" opening underneath the firebox. Moreover, the armature's wire was wrapped around a body, and the paddle connectors attached, to a body like that of a thin computer circuit board. In the attempt to bend the paddles to a position where the fan would fit into the fireplace, the armature board broke and ripped the paddle connectors from the armature, damaging the fan. This fan is designed in the same way, i.e. same problem as to fitment. However, the armature is built with FAR sturdier, reinforced plastic materials. It's head and shoulders better than the other replacement fans I had purchased, same noise level, same ballbearing driven fans, and it cost $50 less to boot.I'm not sure how long this fan will last (and they are a royal pain to remove and install, one must tear down the entire unit, and it's nearly impossible to get the fans in place - now I know why the "Monarch" fireplace company no longer exists!), and I won't be happy if they fail early, as some reviews have stressed. We'll see what happens, but as of now, I'm happy camper. 5 stars, for certain.

The picture is hard to see however they work for my wood stove. That’s not without some work. The motors were clocked the wrong way when I received for my application. They connections were too close to the vent openings and they would have grounded out. I reversed the motor applications which made the connections turn the other way which made them useful. They run quiet and handle the heat of the wood stove with no problems. My wood stove is old and finding mirrors for them is hard. Because most motor applications for wood stove blower are 13 inches long with the vents being about 4 inches. Mine is 17 inches and vent’s are 5 and 1/4 each. Using dual motors made it easy for me to adapt these. They are cheap enough I can buy them again if I need to. Good value for the money.

Bought 2 last year and having to buy again. One is making. Horrible noise. It does fit and is much cheeper than replacing the whole blower but hopefully we don’t have to replace and fix every year.

Fit perfectly in my Osborn Stratford except fan slightly smaller. Unfortunately the electrical connectors were smashed during shipping due to poor packaging. I was unable to get blower to work and am returning it.

I just got a chance to install this. I'm pretty happy with it thus far. It surprised me by the amount of air it moved compared to its size while testing it in the garage. I am an electrician and had material on hand but if you don't have an existing fan then you will want to search for the kit and not just this blower. I hid a rheostat in the lower compartment behind the vent. This will allow to slow it down and keep the noise almost non existant. You can definitely hear it on high but not unbearable or rattling. If it's that cold here in CO I'll just turn the TV up! My fireplace has always worked decently with convection but this will give the air a little push into the room and make it a bit more efficient using some of the heat that generally goes right out the vent. I can feel air moving out about 3-4 feet from the fireplace instead of right at the upper vent now. I gave a 3 star install rating because if electrical is needed this would not be for all d.i.y.ers.
