Do you like to be disappointed? How about frustrated? If you answered yes, to both questions. then you will be so excited when this product arrives!! I, on the other hand, chose to send this back after discovering what a failure this product is. Do yourself a favor and just buy a hose reel with a hand crank.

This was easy to install it’s replacing another automatic reel hose h the big that a guest broke. This is a great replacement. Even better than my previous one. Now my hose area is nice and clear again.

A heavy duty hose that easily retracts with just a snug pull on hose. The hose hasn't tangled as of now. But, you must be very careful when retracting the hose after use. Recommendations are to fully retract the hose after each use. It's best to turn off the water then release the pressure from the nozzle and gently assist the hose back into the storage unit. The nozzle is awesome and has many features. This retractable hose sure beats having to carry a hose around to water plants. Looks really neat and clean, yet ready to water with a simple pull on water hose.Haven't had the unit mounted yet because of the extremely cold weather and freezing conditions. I do not like the mount because it is plastic. Needs a heavy metal mount. I agree with some of the other reviewers, there are definitely some design flaws. The instructions warning states there is a “STOP” indication sticker 3.28 feet before the maximum length of hose and you must not pull out hose past this point because the retraction mechanism will be destroyed. Crazy, why isn't there a rubber or metal “catch” to stop a person from pulling the hose out too far? How am I going to know how far to stretch the hose if I am pulling the hose as I am watering the plants? I guess I will need to measure my garden area before pulling the hose to water, so I will know how far to stretch hose before the “STOP” indication sticker.I must commend Giraffe Tools because there is a great instruction booklet outlining how to install and what to do if you encounter any issues. This has a 24 month warranty. This fits my garden needs in a retractable hose.

This hose reeler was exactly what I needed for this area of my yard. I got so tired of rolling up the old one, I ended up just leaving out in the yard, but I was never happy about that. This reeler is easy to deploy and then makes the retraction a simple process. Install was a bit non-typical for my situation. While I tried to use the included installation hardware, which is actually fabulous, it was ultimately not appropriate for my concrete stucco wall. In my situation I wanted it in a specific spot and while I hoped it was backed by some stud support, it turned out to be a hollow space. I decided the stucco itself was OK to support the weight of the reeler, the included anchors are for solid surfaces such as wood or concrete. I ended up engineering a different yet solid mounting. Again, the included hardware is good stuff and your situation is probably different. The actual install was simple though. My only real concern is that the mounting base is made of plastic and not something like cast magnesium. It appears for now to support the reeler just fine, I worry a little about how it will age in the Las Vegas heat over four or five years. We will see, but I only took a star off for that concern. I'm guessing that most other reelers might have the same construction. In any case, this solves a yard problem at a reasonable price point.

I added a similar type retractable extension cord to my garage and was so impressed with how much easier it was to manage that I thought I would try something like it for my garage water hose. Glad I ordered this because, like the extension cord reel, this makes it super simple to manage my hose.What impressed me is the strong action of the reel- quite a powerful spring in this thing because it pulls the hose back in quickly and effortlessly. And an added feature is the guide which moves back and forth across the reel keeping the hose winding in without getting tangled or bunched-up in one place. A well thought through design. Another smart feature is the way this unit can be removed from the mount so you can bring it in for the winter or other situations. To do this, you simply disconnect the hose from the faucet and then remove the large "pin" that holds the unit to the mount. And there is even a handle on the top to facilitate carrying- easy peasy! And regarding hooking it up and mounting, the hose to connect to the faucet is about 3-feet long which provides some means to move it to a convenient height or location, and this comes with a set of solid expanding anchors for fixing into walls. And finally, the instructions (not that it's all that complicated) are clear, well written and easy to follow. Oh, almost forgot to mention there is a spray nozzle included as well.Overall, I'm really pleased with the design of this product and while I haven't had it for long or much chance to use it (it is winter so not much car washing going on), it does feel quite solid and I think it will definitely hold up to consumer use (though perhaps not professional.) I will update this review in the future if I run into any issues or problems, but for now I would definitely recommend it.
