This "ez lock" is ironically the least easy softbox to lock into place. You have to place it against a solid wall and use all of your body weight and force against it just to get it to full open. THEN you have to pray to all the gods that the poor quality lock will actually lock into place. After about five attempts and one hell of a workout I finally got it to stay open...I placed it on the ground then a little later picked it up and the thing snapped shut! I had to go through the whole process again to get this thing open. I finally got it mounted but before I could even take a photo it snapped shut again. This is like a dangerous mousetrap that I would suggest not having near any of your camera equipment.Would make a great gag gift if you have a rival photographer or something.

Not EasY to open Sturdy. Looks great, gives off great light. Quickly disassembled for East storage. Just remember it's a lot of tension to open.

With the EZ Glow 48" parabolic soft box my lighting setup is now on par with major production crews. I'm mostly a one man crew and I saw a similar video on a soft box modeled after this on Amazon after purchasing the EZ Glow. It looked like it was going to be a hassle to snap all of the ribs into place. Unboxed this as soon as it arrived and to my great pleasure it opens and closes like an umbrella no need to manually place each rib into position. It has a very sturdy top spring that will hold the tension of the ribs with no problems. Just be sure to have someone with strong thumbs to help close it if your thumbs aren't so inclined. You can go big brand name if your ego demands and your budget allows but this paid for itself in one shoot. Not so if I went with the brand name equivalent.

Bought this to use with my Xplor 600 strobe. I was impressed with the fit and finish of the softbox. As some reviewers have stated, it is a bit of a pain to open it, as it is under a lot of tension. To me, it doesn't feel like to much tension for the unit, actually, when it's opened it is nice and full...if that makes sense. Meaning there are no wrinkles in the softbox fabric, which I like. I put the unit on the ground, and push it open and lock it into place. Not a big deal. Unit is very well made and over all I am very happy with the purchase. I bought the 48" Deep Parabolic and plan on ordering a smaller one as well.

The Good:- I like this, and I like Adorama. I think everything in the descriptive material is true, so overall its excellent.- It also came with an eight page manual, which I needed to set up and take this down.- You get the interior reflecting dish, inner baffle and diffusion covers (interior and exterior) and the grid.- The carry bag is also substantial. However, three things you want to know:- Its a bit of a challenge to get open. I'm not strong enough to reach inside the zippered opening to secure the softbox open (I'm a fit male). I need to set it on the floor, lean over and push down. If there were a second zippered opening on the other side, I think I could open it while standing up.- Its not easy to take down. Specifically, I needed to use a pair of pliers to press the "EZ Lock" button to get the umbrella to collapse. I could not do it by hand. (the manual shows this being done with one finger!).- I wish the storage bag for the white diffusion covers. There is a clear bag for shipment, but its not enough for sturdy storage, and because its portable, I want a storage bag for it.- Its big. 4 feet by about 2.5 feet. But you know that.Overall, I think I like this.

Pretty much the best modifier I own. Really easy setup but it takes muscles to click it. Since it’s so big it’s not 100% easy to open but it’s an awesome softbox. Double diffused, and comes with a grid.

Easy to setup/teardown. Baffles provide for many "quality-of-light" options. Only minor concern. It's ease of setup/teardown, also makes it a bit fragile IMO. I'm careful how and where I pack it. Never put it in a bag with stands and tripods. All of my soft Glow boxes are in their own bag. The deep parabolic especially with the fabric grid attached, gives a soft, but very-directed light. Grid off and we get a bit wider beam, but still soft. All baffles removed and we get a harder but directed/focused light source. Very very flexible.
