This is what you need for the TR or tamper proof outlets/receptables. Two tips to push in at once.Be aware, only the one tip has the reading probe. Inserting this device wrongly will not give a reading. That is, if the reader probe in inserted in the neutral side, then you will not get a light or audible response.In testing, it is recomended inserting one way and then flipping the device the other way ---- now you will be sure that the device was wired in reverse.

I love the fact I can plug into TR outlets! But this thing is TOUCHY. It's so sensitive it will read hot 2 to 3 inches away from whatever wires your checking. Not ideal for finding feed wires in multi gang switch boxes

I tried this on three different receptacles and it did not work with any of them. It showed power on the cords, but not the receptacle.

I haven't had a chance to really put this to work. I tested it and it works great. Safety outlets are easy to test with it.

I tried a competitor’ device but it did not work in tamper proof receptacles. The TR-13 works on all receptacles and also ‘chirps’ when near a live wire (appliance plugged into wall - the wire is live).Seems well made.

It's rather simple and flash light is not that powerful. The brilliant feature here is that you can insert tester into the outlet
