This could not get much more minimal. Just some parts and mediocre screws in a bag. I guess it works, but it’s just not a great experience to use. That said, I’m a big fan of this style of downspout hinge. It makes it much easier to mow and take the trash to the curb. Generally it’s fine, just not great.

TLDR: Has made lawn care much easier and moved water further from our foundation.Got our first home and experienced the remnants of a tropical storm the weekend after, which was all a learning experience. After the storm passed, we noticed that a few our of down spouts just dumped water from the gutters right next to the foundation. Having never owned a home before, we watched youtube to figure out how to fix this. We started off with the long black plastic tubes that we zip-tied to the end of the downspout. While that worked, it looked a bit tacky in our front yard and was a pain to move when we mowed. After a few mows, we decided we were over the tubes and when with the hinge (this listing) and long gutter we got at Lowe's. Super easy to install (about 10mins), and makes mowing a lot easier as all I do is lift the gutter up and mow. I'm already walking around looking for rock and branches to get up, so lifting this doesn't add to my workload. Been using it for 3 months now and it had held up nicely, isn't rusting, and still hinging away. It just works, which is all I need.

This is fairly easy to install. You need to cut your extension downspout at a 45 degree angle. A carpenter's square is a quick and easy way to draw a 45 degree angle. Once you cut that, just screw the hinge to the downspout and then the extension piece. I have a rather long extension piece so using the include clip to hold the extension downspout in the upright position wasn't really feasible to use since it had to placed high up. I just ended finding a neodymium magnet with a threaded rod with a nut and bolted it to the end of the extension piece. Then I just screwed in a screw (steel) in the downspout where the magnet would be in the upright position. This works much better IMO as I can quickly raise and lower the extension downspout.

Using this flipping accessory is an excellent idea as it facilitates the cleaning of a downspout when it gets clogged with rainwater and tree leaves.

The Gutter Extension Hinge arrived in a zip lock bag wiht no instructions which was disappointing. With that said it was very apparent how to install them. The screws are of low quality so I replaced them. The hinge itself is lightweight metal but more than enough to handle the gutter. It was also a bit stiff but some oil resolved that.

I have some gutters with an elongated floor extension to move gutter water away from the foundation. The hinge constantly breaks. so these replacement hinges are fantastic to fix that job.

The gutter hinge arrived in a ziplock bag. There were no instructions. All you need to install this hinge is a pair of tin snips to cut the angle on the outlet side of the downspout, a screw gun, a small drill bit, and a Phillips bit.Cut the angle on the outlet side, run the screws in, first on the side and then on top, and it's done. A dog bone shaped clip comes with it too if you want to hold it in the upright position.A good addition if you have extended outlets.
