I don't know, seems kind of cheapo, but it does the job. I'm using it to lower the speed of an exhaust fan in my darkroom.

Got this for small grinder I use for a variable speed buffer. This cheap grinder originally came with a variable control nob but it burned out. I replaced it with an on and off switch because I did not have that type of unit available . This one works the same as the one that was in there . Important note below. I have another 110 volt wall plug in bench top buffer that came with just an on and off switch . I tried this on it ..This will not work with it because the motor is not capable of utilizing this controller or any other controller.make sure your motor can be used with this unit…some can and some can not …it all depends on the motor… not the controller….5 stars works great.
