My daughter loves rice and so creating hearts is a fun way to make a meal. Plus it makes dinner fun and a change of pace. I definitely recommend this product if you like seeing your kiddos eat everything on their plates :)

My wife enjoys making onigiri rice triangles for snacks and light meals for the family. She wanted to try something different and make heart shaped onigiri rice for our nieces and nephews but couldn't think of a way to do it by hand consistently. So, when I showed my wife this item she jumped at the chance to try it. When I opened the packaging I noticed that it was made with heavy gauge metal. It was more hefty than it appeared. My wife then commented on how she thought the design was poor because she felt that rice could get stuck beneath the press-out and would be difficult to clean. So, I fiddled with it a bit wondering if the press-out could be disassembled for cleaning. After a few minutes, I was able to screw off the large metal button at the top of the press, pull out the spring and disengage the entire tree-out assemble from the mold. Now, my wife could effectively clean the entire mold without the worry of leaving rice residue that could grow moldy. My wife hasn't yet tried it out but is looking forward to using it soon. I'll try to update on the east of use. I only gave the item 4 stars because it did not come with any instructions for use or cleaning and I had to figure it out on my own.

Triangular onigiri are easy to make by hand, but this is a nice option for a different shape. This will also work as a mold for plating rice (and other foods) by pressing a bit less firmly.This is a very sturdy rice mold. It can be disassembled for cleaning (by unscrewing the handle), although this is not obvious.Definitely not necessary, but if you will use it a lot, or want to avoid using the cheap plastic molds, this is a nicely made mold that will last.

Love this riceball mold for taking the work out of shaping riceballs. The heart shape is a perfect size for a normal portion. Only issue is that the top piece (knob) tends to unscrew and fall off but it's an easy fix. Made of thick metal so it's durable as well.
