This is a SPST Off-(On) switch. The switch is open (OFF) in the normal position. When the button is depressed the switch closes and is ON. When released the switch returns to OFF.

Used it to replace a push to start switch on a older clothes dryer that was unavailable got the dryer running again

I used this as a replacement switch on my boat lift at the marina. I'm not sure if it's meant for outside loads that go for 2-3 minutes at a time because it failed almost exactly 3 years after installation (pushing the button would no longer pass power through) - this would be approximately 50 uses over the three years.For the price, I don't think I mind replacing it every few years - it only takes 5-10 minutes.

Totally confusing description. It works backwards from what one reviewer said. Push button and light comes on. I wanted the opposite.
