I have an Orion 6" telescope and this worked out great for the solar eclipse (although the clouds didn't). I have had the telescope for probably 15 years and I wish I would have bought this a long time ago. Great for looking at sun spots (there were only two small ones - grand solar minimum on the way).

This solar filter arrived on time and extremely well packed. The product box inside of the doing box is a great long term storage box. There is plenty of foam to keep the filter secure. The filter is built with high quality materials. The coating on the glass is perfect. I also found out it was double coated after I bought it. Great bonus when I thought I was buying single coated glass. The filter is true to size and fits my telescope perfectly. I would highly recommend this solar filter to anyone looking for one.

I have another filter like this where the filter element is mylar film instead of glass. I was pleasantly surprised that this glass filter was competitively priced. The housing is aluminum and although the picture shows only one hold down screw, there are three around the perimeter at 120 degrees apart.I am using it on an AstroTech 115mm APO refractor telescope. It fits well and the three hold down screws keep it secure on the front of the 'scope. It also fits my 115mm Newtonian reflector telescope. Be sure to measure the opening of your telescope accurately before purchase. Do NOT rely on the aperture size. The front of the 'scope must be measured for overall size.I'm ready for the April 8th 2024 solar eclipse (my city is in the path of totality). Too bad you can't buy good weather on Amazon!

I have used this solar filter a few times and really like it. It's easy to use and fits perfectly. It is well-made and I trust it won't slip off while I am looking at the sun. I've been able to catch a few good pictures of sun spots. I would buy this again without a doubt!

Used this on my Celestron Mac 90. Thankfully I practiced beforehand and realized you see nothing but the sun when using the solar filter. Therefore, it is essential that you purchase and calibrate a good solar finder. With practice, solar viewing with this filter is awesome.
