Soon thereafter, Captain Hansen and his wife Margrethe launched a business producing waterproof oilskin jackets, trousers, sou’westers and tarpaulins made from coarse linen soaked in linseed oil – and the legend was born!

This is a great jacket. I like the helmet compatible hood, numerous pockets and long length. The lifaloft insulation works perfect to keep you warm. First time out using it we were skiing on a overcast day, 9 degrees F and a constant 25 mph wind gusting to 40. When we left the temp dropped to 0 F and the wind was still blowing. I was wearing a merino wool base layer, spyder fleece pullover and my upper body was warm all day. Can’t say the same for my hands, toes and lower body. I was wearing a Columbia ski pant with the jacket and I have now replaced that with a Helly Hansen SOGN ski pant. Perfect combo if you ask me.
