This is probably the easiest option to dechrome the Mazda wing. Plus, it’s reversible if you want to revert back to stock.As other comments have noted, the fit is not perfect. In my case, one piece was fine, but the other was a tad long and did not pulley cover the chrome in one area. Unnoticeable if you’re not looking for it though.

First clean the back of the moldings with alcohol and add some supplemental 3M VHA tape as the tape that comes with the molding is subpar. Clean the chrome well using alcohol and a micro fiber cloth. There were other reviews stating the moldings leave a small gap in the area at the bottoms where the two moldings meet. I used a small piece of black glossy vinyl on the chrome where the moldings would meet to cover up any chrome that might show. Use a heat gun to warm up the chrome… then apply the moldings starting with the headlight area and working your way down towards the middle. Push hard to make sure the molding snaps in place covering all the chrome. Once done, go over it with the microfiber cloth using pressure to make sure all the tape adheres. The results? … pretty amazing!

Fit is good. Tape seems to be holding after a week. There is a bit of chrome showing in the middle but the gloss black looks alot nicer than the satin finish from the plastidip that was on there before.

Was easy to install, the adhesion is good but only been on for a few weeks now. I did not fit the pieces in perfectly, but it was pretty good overall. Not sure if it was the molding or user error. Going to give the trim pieces the benefit of doubt. Looks great definitely a cooly way to spice up the look of your cx-30. Would like to see a carbon version.

I’ve been wanting to black out some chrome pieces of my CX5, especially the front grill accent. I don’t think I’m skilled enough to do a vinyl wrap and hyperdipping sounds scary. I came across this overlay and thought I’d give it a try since Amazon has a pretty good return policy/process. And I’m so glad I did. When it arrived and took it out of the box, I have to admit I was questioning my decision. It looked a lot like plastic. But I placed it on the chrome piece to see what it looked like and I was impressed. Looks great! The installation was super easy and feels very secure. I did use rubbing alcohol to clean the chrome and heated up the chrome and the adhesive tape using a blow dryer before securing it. I love it and was so easy and at a great price. IA previous reviewer said that you can see the chrome where the two pieces meet in the middle. I was very cognizant of this when securing/placing and had no issues. Highly recommend.
