There are three tubes provided with the iron sight. I found that the red and green "light pipes" are less effective than the plain white dot insert. The light pipes don't conduct as much light as the plain white dot reflects off of it's rear surface. However I did not try all three outside under sunlight, so if you're going to use it with bright overheat light it may work well with the red or green tube. My Ruger 22/45 is for indoor use. It's good to have a choice and was an upgrade worth the price.

Wonderful addition to my standard 22/45bull barrel pistol that came with a totally unmarked front sight. Happy with the EZ and solid installation as well. This greatly improved my target acquisition. And I did much better attaining my aim at points on target at the range today shooting with new front sight attached. (Also, my sight did NOT come with the mounting screw so save yours upon removing the plain stock one!) Also I installed my hi-viz sight using a bit of blue Locktite on the threads too to help keep it securely in place.

Some reviewers noted the dim element in the sight. It is bright enough for normal daylight without being too bright. If you need a brighter front sight for commando raids or your special ops training, chances are you're not grabbing a 22lr. The factory sight post really left much to be desired. As noted by other reviews, this sight is a perfect match for height compared to the factory sight. I used a dot of Red Loctite and it's stayed put. Given the rail on this pistol I'm likely going to use the Vortex Venom red dot most of the time, but the adjustable rear sight and this front fiber optic do what I expect.Highly recommend for a front sight upgrade.

I purchased this front sight for my Ruger 22/45 pistol. The front sight that came with the pistol was black and difficult to aim at dark splatter targets. This new front sight is very visible when shooting at all targets. The sight also came with a red and white fiber optic. I was unable to remove the old sight and install the new sight. I took it to a gunsmith and he was kind enough to replace it for free. This is a very good front sight but is difficult to install. I believe this sight a good value for what I paid. I would recommend this sight to a friend.
