We went to Europe and didn't want to leave all of our lights on since it's basically an advert to anyone who watches and sees if lights on on during the day. So my husband decided on this. It was so easy to instal - it took maybe 45 minutes - and it works like a charm. We're very happy with the purchase.

This works exactly as it should. I use mine to turn on an exhaust fan every night. It's a very simple set up - from on/off switch to timer. No issues whatsoever. However, there are a couple of caveats: It doesn't work on LED lights (stated in the ad - which I did not need) & there was no ground connection. I've never come across an electrical switch that didn't have ground connection. So, I capped the ground wire and hooked everything up as instructed. It's been working fine. I like that there is a battery back-up built into the timer in case the power goes out. I found programming it was fairly straightforward.

I have swapped out dimmer switches and installed ceiling fans in my home so I thought I could do this. Nope, had to have electrician help. The instructions don't tell you what to do when your wires in the house are all black with a ground and no labeling. No labeling on the new or old switch either. Needless to say You Tube didn't help either. After sparks went flying I called and electrician friend. Then when I set the timer I wasn't sure it would work because the unit didn't behave as instructions stated. Luckily it works, I dread time change and having to readjust it. Other then that it works, looks good and happy

Item doesn't work with LED's or CF's. Product package clearly states this but the website doesn't mention this drawback. What use nowadays is a device that can't work with LED's?

I love this little timer switch. Programming it is quite a bit easier than my previous Intermatic switch that failed after 8 months. But here's the funny thing. Honeywell's description for this device says it cannot be used to run motors. But I use it to turn a power outlet on and off at designated times. The power outlet runs two small fountain pump motors and has done it faithfully and accurately for weeks now. Go figure.I spoke to a Honeywell customer service rep before I bought this switch. He was unable to explain why using this switch would be a problem with motors and not with bulbs or other electrical device. I still don't get why it matters what is drawing power from the outlet. The purpose of the switch should simply be to allow the electrical current to flow to the outlet when it is "on" and to block it when it is "off." It's supposed to be just a little "clock." Anyway, it works very well and I am very satisfied. We had a big power outage a few days ago and I thought I would have to reset the time on this switch. But, no. It retained all its programming during the 3+ hours of the outage.

This does exactly what it is supposed to. We have an old house and only two wires going to the box where this is installed; no ground, no neutral. The instructions are very clear, and because there is a bit of current flow all the time to power the clock and the device, it can only be used with incandescent bulbs 40w or more. As noted by others, the screws which attach the device to the box are extremely soft and the screw head becomes distorted easily. Don't use them--use the old screws from the switch being replaced.

Worked like a charm for the first three weeks but then it just stopped. I threw away the original packaging so I don't know how I can return it.

I've had this product () for two months. It's used to control three outdoor lights, two on the garage and one at the front door entrance. I tried several different dusk to dawn devices but none of them worked very well. They all often came on whenever it rained or the sky was very cloudy, even when it was in the middle of the day. This product is a good solution. You set it to the time you want it to come on and when you want it to turn off. If you prefer, you can set different on/off times for each day. That's a good feature if you want avoid a fixed pattern. That feature is intended to confuse someone trying to find out when you are gone for awhile, perhaps on vacation. It does not adjust automatically for daylight saving time nor does it adjust as the sunset time changes. Thus, you must reset the start time as the daylight hours change. The device has a small LCD screen which shows the time of day and is also used during programming. Programming is fairly easy and gives you the option to set all days the same, without having to set each day individually. One of my pre-purchase concerns was whether or not it would control the motion detector light fixture at the front door. Works perfectly. When the timer comes on, the two garage lights turn on and stay on until you reach the programmed turn off time. The motion controlled light stays off until motion is detected. If no motion is detected, it stays off.You can override the programming to turn on the fixtures immediately by simply pressing the lower part of the timer. You can return to the automatic program by pressing it again. The reason for knocking off one star is that the LCD window is hard to read because the digits are black on a very dark background. It has no backlighting so I sometimes have to use a flashlight to read it. I should add that the timer is located at the usual light-switch height in a hallway that is not particularly bright. However, even when the ceiling fixture in the hallway is on, the timer is still hard to read. One last thing. The first timer had a defective display so I sent it back for an exchange. Amazon was more than helpful. They covered shipping both ways and the replacement arrived in a few days. I would buy this product again.
