The horse chestnut has a brown shell highlighted by a beige eye. They are similar to buckeye nuts but different. Horse chestnuts are slightly poisonous and should not be eaten; they are for craft and decorative purposes only. They should be kept out of the reach of pets and children.

I have prepared chestnuts many times. The chestnuts that I received Did not perform as advertised. I would not order these again from this company very disappointed in the product.

I hardly ever leave a less-than-positive review, and I hesitate not to give a high star because they came on time and in excellent condition. So depending on your needs, these may be a good bet and work well. I got them to keep spiders away and they did not work for that. I wanted a "green" harmless product and they are as far as no chemicals. However, pet owners must be aware that THESE ARE TOXIC TO ANIMALS. Our new puppy got into them as they were placed on windowsills and he chewed one up and they are toxic. So we had to get an emergency visit to the vet where he had to get a shot to vomit it up. He is fine now. But BEWARE. Just threw them all out.

Got the nuts and they were all old and dried up. Do not buy! Gave them a star because I got them.

Bought these on the advise of my friend in England. She uses these, in the corners of her home, to keep spiders at bay. It seems to work for me as well. I recommend them, if you don't want spiders.
