  • 60" LONG ASH HANDLE: Great for all heights. Handle is waxed, not varnished, so it won't peel or crack over time.
  • MADE IN THE USA: Built to last a lifetime with a powder-coated, steel frame.

The Hoss Stirrup Hoe makes it easy and effortless to remove weeds and cultivate along rows and between plants. This is simply the best stirrup or hula hoe you will find. This long-handle hoe is built to last a lifetime and will be used for many generations. The strength and functionality of this tool makes it extremely versatile for a wide range of garden applications. Use it as a precision-weeding tool for removing weeds that appear between plants along the row. The rounded blade allows you to work close to plants without damaging the stems or foliage. It also works great for heavier applications such as clearing large patches of heavily-weeded areas. Additionally, it can be used as an edging tool to maintain the borders of your garden beds. Shuffle the hoe along the edge of the garden to prevent grass runners from creeping into the garden and becoming weeds. The Hoss Stirrup Hoe is MADE IN THE USA with a powder-coated steel frame, spring steel blade and 60″ ash handle. The 6″ spring steel blade is super sharp and ready to eliminate any weed that might be in its path. The powder-coated frame is slotted so the blade can rotate 20 degrees in either direction — forward or backward. This allows the user to weed and cultivate with the push and the pull motion of the tool. Because one can cut in both directions, it doesn’t take long at all to zip through the garden and have it nice, clean and weed-free. The 60″ ash handle makes it a great tool for users of all heights. All of our handles are waxed and free of any lacquer that will splinter or crack.

I had several neglected flower beds due to a back injury in the spring. We're talking 6 foot thistles, ivy, grass, burdock and everything. Wow I'm impressed how well this works!

I was amazed at how this hoe makes easy work out of weeding the garden and flower beds. Even in compacted soil it gets the weeds out with ease. I never thought I would be retiring my favorite hoe but is on vacation now that I have the stirrup hoe! Very sharp and very well constructed!

Once I had seen my landscaper use this tool to weed the garden bed, I was hooked! I just got this thing and started using it immediately. They packed/wrapped it pretty tight so it was a bit challenging to open up the package and unwrap the blade without lopping off my fingers. The blade is real sharp so be careful! It's real easy to put together and you can use it in less than 10 minutes after unwrapping it. Tears up the weeds without issue. Your garden soil will give you different results. I have a few different terrains on my property from sandy dry soil, to rich garden topsoil. Overall easy to use, once you get the hang of it. So much fun and satisfaction shredding up the weeds!

I've used a few stirrup hoes over the years, with middling success. Most of them just weren't strong enough to cut through spring sod, being more maintenance than bed restoration tools. This one is different. the sharp blade (and it is sharp, it nicked a leather glove when I was setting it up) cuts through roots like they weren't there. You'll need a little bit of time to get used to it, but once you figure out the sawing motion needed, you can clean grass, weeds, ivy, even small shrubs and bushes, with ease. The long handle gives you a very good reach, and the rocking motion of the head actually helps you unearth stuck vegetation. The only place I can really knock this tool is in its overall price. While very good, its a bit of a hard sell for a garden tool. At the price this thing sits at, you start looking at electronic tillers and similar devices.

As far as stirrup hoes go, this one is exceptional. It is sturdier than others and easier to use than others. The swivel mechanism simply works better than others I have tried too. For shallow-rooted, small weeds in relatively soft or wet soil, this is unequaled. However, there are better options for dry, hard soils, deep-rooted and large weeds or for areas that need a really tight-fit weeder. I find myself switching back and forth between this stirrup hoe, a triangular scuffle-hoe and a hand-held, Japanese sickle hoe. Still, for what it is, this is an excellent example. My only concern with the Hoss hoe is that the handle is relatively narrow and smooth, so even with gloves, I find my hands slipping a bit.
