Seems to be a great portable little unit for what inwas hoping it would be, but the product came out damaged from the box. On top of that the first time I started to use it after following manufacturer assembly instructions the acetylene check valve broke in half.

Item is exactly as advertised and works very well. Quality of materials and workmanship is commendable. Plastic tote was broken from tanks bouncing around in shippment, and possibly from the cold. I did not want to return the entire item but policy on damaged items only offer one option, so I am trying to get around that because I do not want to return the whole package.

Awesome little kit, great value for the price (439$).Do bear in mind the tanks are empty (duh) and you'll have to exchange them at your local welding supply.Tote was broken on delivery but a quick call to Hot Max and I had one shipped to me for free.***Do not use Princess Auto tips***They look exactly the same, but they don't actually fit tightly and will pop and burn out.

Great compact and easy to move around the farm. Have had great luck with it for spot welding pipe fences, repairing gates and use on the equipment. Portable and easy to store, ready for the next time.

for the price this set rocks!!the only drawback is an extremely flimsy tote, the first time i opened the storage area cover it snapped off. which is not that big a deal[most people take those off anyway]the handle on the tote bent very badly the first few times i lifted the set.my solution will be to just make either a sheet metal stiffener, or a piece of 1/4 inch plywood bonded to the back.glued and screwed.I used it to braze ac line sets with,it worked like a champ!! [ 3/8-7/8 ]and was far cheaper then 450-600 $ the local supply house wanted for a similar set.

It is a good kit for light work, I've used it to weld and cut. the torches are cheap but for 255 tanks regulators hose etc it is a really good deal. You get what you pay for though. The one I got lasted a year or so before the gauges were knocked around and used enough before they needed replacement. The acetylene tank should be turned on and off carefully regardless of new/old bottle, it is a small square at the top, no need to over tighten or loosen.Depending on your area or distributors, the tanks come empty, and they last for maybe 6-8 hours continuous use? I only used them for maybe a few min at a time and always shut off all the valves once I was done for the day. When you get new gas, the distributer I went to just gave me new bottles every time so I didn't have to worry about the old bottles being poor quality at all.I've never had a leak or damage with the hoses or fittings. but that stuff isn't expensive to replace even if it did. most of the cost is buying the tanks, ~130 for the acetylene ~80-100 for the oxygen.Anyway, all-in-all it is nice to get everything all in one package, and if you use it carefully like you are handling dangerous equipment and don't try and put allot of force on the fittings or whip the hoses around or yank/jerk anything, the stuff will last you a while.

I don't recommend anyone waste their money on this item. The weak point of the whole system is where the regulators connect on to the bottles. I used the item one day and ran out of Oxygen and Acetylene which was OK, but then when I went to hook up the Acetylene regulator to the tank, after filling them again, the connection just fell apart. I noticed that they use cheap metal gasket clips to hold the nut on. When I tried to get the item replaced I could not get hold of the company that makes the item. After half a day of trying to replace the regulator, or at least the portion that broke, I gave up and returned the torch kit. I like the idea of the easy portability but they should have made the regulator connections a little more stout. Something like this unit should last for years not hours!
