The black part doesn’t stay underneath the blade. Got these for my son’s new hockey skates. He tried them on and walked around in them for 5 minutes and one of the guards has a hole on both sides from first use. For $35 I expect better quality than this. We have used elite hockey skate guards and had the same pair for 3 years and they still look brand new and they’re cheaper, guess we will stick with that brand. We wanted to try howies because my son wanted the color green, obviously we regret that decision. Howies has a lot of great products, this one just wasn’t a good fit for us.

These skate guards are durable enough to walk in them if you choose. They are very plush and absorbent. Quality is very good.

My teen AAA teen player loves these Howie brand skate guards. Over the years we have tried many brands. Most only last a month or two. He can get through a whole season with these before they show any wear. Worth the little bit extra cost for the value.
