The coil in my recoil starter rusted to pieces so I knew I had to find the whole assembly. Replacing coils inside the starter was not going to happen! The price was right on this part and it fit perfectly! There are three screws to take off and put back on and voila I'm back to tilling! My Craftsman is from 2008 and it's model 917299080 Thanks AMAZON!

not good same part number as on my Poulan Tiller… I installed the kit but had to push it in really good, it puls but wont even recoil unless i use a screwdriver… Sick of getting these third part items that dont work right…

This was the perfect fit for a craftsman front tine tiller. Ours had a broken pull rope and when we pulled off this part to replace the rope, it was rusty and the spring was out of its track. Ended up replacing the whole housing (this part) This part is very easy to install, just 3 bolts to loosen and replace. Anybody could do the job. After replacing the part, the tiller started on the first pull.

This was for a tiller, exactly as advertised and seems better than the original. A lot easier than buying parts and trying to repair.
