About this item

  • cULus 1436 certified, CAT II 150-Volt
  • Quickly and easily identifies circuit breakers/fuses without disrupting power on energized 120-Volt AC circuits, clear visual and audible indicators (audibles can be muted)
  • NCVT in receiver tip indicates presence of AC voltage between 80-Volt tov300-Volt
  • Flashlight in receiver operates independently of the tester functions and can be used to illuminate work area
  • Transmitter tests outlet wiring configurations (indicated via green/red LEDs) and tests GFCIs, receiver powers off automatically after 5-minutes of non-use to conserve battery life

The IDEAL 61-535 is a 120-Volt AC circuit breaker finder that automatically identifies a circuit breaker/fuse protecting a live branch circuit. It consists of a transmitter and a receiver. The transmitter sends a signal over the conductors when connected to an energized circuit. It also identifies the presence of power and indicates corrector/incorrect wiring conditions via illuminated green and red LED's and contains a GFCI trip tester. The receiver reads the transmitter's signal and identifies the breaker/fuse energizing the circuit by illuminating a flashing green LED and emitting beeps once it determines the breaker/fuse with the strongest signal. The receiver also senses the presence of AC voltage (80-Volt to 300-Volt AC) via and non-contact voltage (NCV) sensor in the tip. The receiver indicates the presence of AC voltage by illuminating a red flashing LED and emitting a beeping sound. The audible tone for both the breaker finding mode and the NCV mode can be muted via a button for working in noise sensitive areas. The receiver also includes a work light that can be operated independently for work in poorly lit conditions.

I'm mapping all my outlets and appliances in my panel. This has been a huge help. Use as directed and it will get you to the correct breaker. You do get random beeps but it is consistent on the correct braker.

I ordered "IDEAL INDUSTRIES INC. 61-535 Digital Circuit Breaker Finder with Digital Receiver and GFCI Circuit Tester" so I could track down a few circuits as I map all my home's circuit breakers. Recently I had to return a similar item of a similar brand that was not able to detect a few particular circuits. It brought me great joy that within a few minutes of opening the package and reading the instructions, I was able to quickly and accurately locate both circuits I was hunting. Per the directions, after plugging the transmitter unit into the wall socket for the circuit I was seeking, I performed the "race track" pattern around the breakers inside the circuit panel and adjusted the detector's sensitivity. This is definitely a better-performing product than the first kind I bought, though I wish this one had a handy storage case. I carefully cut the 3/4 area around the container compartments of the original packaging so I can just store the unit there (be careful, that packaging plastic can be extremely sharp.

It’s not the greatest circuit tracer but it does the job and the price can’t be beat.

I’ve tried several of these breaker locators from other brands and none of them worked. This guy is awesome if you follow the directions and make 2 loops!

being an electrician theres nothing more frustrating than trying to find a breaker on an exsisting job site. without a panel schedule or prints all you can do is flip breakers until you find the right on. this device helps find the breaker in no time. i love it. get the plug adapter and you can hook it up to anything thats 120v or clip it to 1 leg and ground w 220.

I use this device when completing electrical-type handyman projects.Me being me, I've already literally diagrammed every single outlet and receptacle in my home and put it into a laminated booklet that hangs right by my panel. Other households, however? Not so much. Often, there's some old scribble on a yellowed label on the panel door that doesn't even really match up to the actual distribution served by the breakers therein.I had an older circuit tracer that gave up the ghost. Not only that, but it was upon the user to manually set the sensitivity of the receiver, which is a pain. The directions provided with this device are simple. After you've put your transmitter in the receptacle for which you're trying to determine the serving breaker, you do a single pass over ALL the breakers in the panel. This allows the receiver to "self-calibrate" and determine, out of all of the breakers, which one is providing the strongest signal. Once you finish your first pass, you go back and do a second pass. On the second go, the receiver will only indicate one breaker, which is your guy.So far, it's been great and I'd recommend it to anyone in the market for one of these jammies.
