The Ladder-Aide line of products from Ideal Security is all about providing an innovative, easy, safe and simple way to use ladders on stairs. Whether you’re opting for the Ladder-Aide SLM (LA1120) or its bigger brother, the Ladder-Aide PRO (LAP1), the Ladder-Aide leveling platforms for extension ladders are the go-to tool for painters and handymen to solve the hassle and ache of using ladders on stairs.
With their all-steel construction, rubber soles, anti-skid surface, and locking pins, the Ladder-Aide PRO can support Type III to Type I-AA extension ladders, while the Ladder-Aide SLM can support Type III to Type II extension ladders.
Beyond providing stability and security, the Ladder-Aide PRO and Ladder-Aide SLM offer convenience through their compact and portable builds. No permanent installation is required to use either product – simply assemble and adjust them to meet your required height, place them on flat stair surfaces, and position your ladder on the Ladder-Aide's stable platform. You can quickly swap out ladders if needed as the Ladder-Aide PRO and Ladder-Aide SLM do not affix to your ladder.
Once you’ve finished using your ladder on stairs, you can pack your Ladder-Aide in the Ladder-Aide PRO Tool Bag (LA4310 sold separately) and use the five external pockets to store various work sundries. From there, you’ll be set to take your Ladder-Aide PRO or Ladder-Aide SLM to the next set of stairs you can now safely use a ladder on.

From the picture you might think you are taking your life into your own hands if using this, but it is actually well built and stable. The rubber is thick and grips the stair well. The ladder platform is walled off so the ladder can't slip off of it. The metal is a sturdy gauge. I'm sure there are Chinese knockoffs that could indeed be scary, but this one is legit. It sucks to have to shell out this much money just to cut in that single line of paint at the top of the stairwell that your roller can't cover, but you are pretty much stuck with this reality.

We couldn’t figure out how to get up high on our stairwell wall!! We have a 4 story house. Once I found this on Amazon, I knew it would work. Genius!! It made it all quite easy!! It’s very well made, it’s very adjustable so you get a solid feel. It’s was worth every cent. If we didn’t have this we would have had to hire someone!!

I used this on a stairs in our house and it was very stable. I do not like heights but this product put me at ease. It is also easy to store. I would recommend this product.

These things are great. I had to hang a gallery wall above my stairs and felt very secure using these. It’s more expensive than some of the alternatives, but worth the investment given your safety.

I loved using this product. It was great for doing a staircase. It fit the legs of my six foot but did not fit the eight foot. I was able to make the eight foot extend onto the stairs which maybe it was intended for. Grip was great. I felt safe. It was easy to put together. Excellent product overall. It was easy adjustable for any staircase.

The ladder-aid pro is a life saver. This product is easy to assemble and to my surprise is extremely sturdy. Painting at 18' high in an open stair case is challenging, but this product made this task much simpler. I am impressed with how stable the ladder was on this device and how the rubber prevented any movement of the ladder. I felt safe. Highly recommended to anyone who must do ladder work on stairs. Bottom line, what this product offers is not worth trying to jerry rig something to put under your ladder and risking your life. Well worth the cost.

The product was really sturdy on the stairs. Worked as described with an extension ladder in a stairwell. The assembly was really easy to setup and adjust as needed. The pins make it even easier and it disassembles really compact.

I just used this to paint the stairway walls going to the basement. It worked very well - absolutely no wobbling, no creaking and no movement. I felt extremely safe. The next place to paint is going up to the second floor - very high walls. I expect this to perform just as well, I’m just not looking forward to the task!
