This should be spring loaded for additional safety see other similar products with better hooks and better strap this one is velcro.

This isn't really a complicated device, but it can certainly offer piece of mind the next time you climb a ladder!I need to climb a ladder once or twice a year to clean the gutters on my home. I can usually use my ladder in an A configuration to stand independently next to the house rather than leaning it against the gutters. For the most part, that is pretty safe - especially on my sidewalk, since it is level and I don't have to worry about how I lean causing the ladder to fall over.On one side of my house, however, the ground is not level, so I usually place rocks or bricks underneath the lower feet of the ladder to try to keep it stable and perpendicular to the ground as I clean the gutters.This bracket and strap can be used to attach the ladder to the fascia board, which will prevent the ladder from falling over. The bracket is very solid and it will securely attach to the fascia board, and the velcro strap will connect the ladder to the bracket. I don't think there is any way the ladder will fall over when attached to this bracket, and it feels SO much more secure.
