nice for the price. Takes a while to get used to it. I find it's fighting me often trying to move from where I pointed it.Well made, worked nice on my Ifootage tripod.

Smooth tripod head. I can get the smooth pans and tilts that I need.

The IFootage Komodo MP30 Ball Head is a professional quality camera support system. The knurled locking knob for the ball locks firmly with not much more than finger tightening, and allows for adjustable dampening of the attached cameras movements. The QR plate has safety pins on the underside to prevent it, and an attached camera, from sliding off the head once properly attached with the locking clamp. It is necessary to tighten the clamp over the edges of the QR plate before the pins become useful; in that case, I would prefer a separate QR button before the plate can be fully released, which this doesn’t have. The Allen wrench necessary to fit the 1/4" screw of the QR plate into whatever is being attached is supplied and conveniently stores magnetically under the QR clamp, staying with the head at all times.Supported by an appropriate tripod, and with the ball locked, I feel confident that my expensive video rig or still camera and attached lens is secure, not something to be taken for granted. Although the seller makes no mention of it, the head does appear to incorporate a standard Arca Swiss style QR plate; I have several plates that fit it, which is handy for switching out cameras, for example shooting videos and stills on the same set. All of the Ball Head’s controls work smoothly and are easy to grip. And of course, there are two distinct, and individually adjustable panoramic scales, one at the base, and another incorporated into the QR plate itself, that is the selling point of the Komodo MP30 Ball Head. The seller says the maximum payload of the Ball Head is 22lbs. I haven’t attached even half that amount to it, but if indeed it will support that weight, that’s impressive for a head that weighs less than 3/4’s of a pound. It certainly has a solid feel to it, and there is a bubble level that sits under the QR plate for leveling the base prior to attaching a camera. The IFootage MP30 Ball Head arrives securely ensconced in an elegant white box with magnetic closure. It includes a warranty card, and a small booklet with instructions along with other available system accessories offered by IFootage. Based on the quality of the Ball Head, those may be worth looking into. There is also an extra 3D decal for the end of the knurled knob used to tighten the ball; I guess they expect that to pop-off and be lost sometime down the line; we’ll see.

This is well-made and it has an excellent fit and finish but I have to question some of the design choices. The panoramic plate is not going to be helpful for cameras that already have ArcaSwiss plates installed. This just has a regular screw mount with a small rubber pad to keep the camera from twisting which we all know it doesn’t really work. I suppose given the size of this thing though it’s not really designed for cameras. It’s probably designed for little mobile devices. That explains why the ball head is exactly the size that they specified but it’s much smaller than it appears in the images and we all know how that works. Your brain is going to focus on the images regardless of the numerical information that it was given. So this is a tiny ball head. It’s sturdy and compact and if it was just the ball head I would give it five stars. The decision to put the panoramic mechanism on top of the clamp instead of underneath it is somewhat puzzling to me. You can always switch it out with a panoramic lamp but then that’s another expense and you were better off just buying the other thing anyway. So some of this is a well-made really good micro compact ball head. But its main feature the panoramic mount, is very puzzling in the way it was implemented. You can attach small imaging devices on top of it but it will not work well for series cameras.

I do some professional photography. This tripod attachment is toy-like. Didn't keep my Nikon attached securely, and didn't tighten well enough to maintain position. Not recommended.

Excellent product. To improve: the base is too imposing and rounded and the bulb is not lit, too bad...

I've had this tripod head for a year. I don't know why this head isn't more hyped. I've been using it on a set of iFootage TA7 legs that I like, too, but I just upgraded my legs to the new Sirui SVT75 One-Step Height Adjustment Video Tripod.I'm still considering eventually getting a Sachtler FSB-8 or Aktiv-8 head additionally, but, honestly, I don't know how big of an upgrade that'll eventually be.This head is so much better than the Manfrotto 504HD I had for years. It's smaller yet feels more powerful, smoother, sturdy, and it's extremely smooth.I load a Canon C70 with big Sigma 50-100 1.8, 150W V-mount, and monitor on this thing all the time. It's technically over the weight limit but with the counterbalance at maximum and the tilt drag at maximum (which is how I like to operate anyway), I can still reposition that full rig to various tilt positions without it moving. If you're looking at fluid heads in this range, this is the best option I've tried. 1 year in and no signs of slowing down.

I got this as a compact alternative to my other Sachtler tripod heads and I have been pleasantly surprised. I used this with my FS7 which is probably over or at the weight limit and it worked surprisingly well. For a mirrorless this would be really solid option. You obviously get a much smoother operation with a fluid head but you also pay 10x or 20x the price.
