I chose this tripod ball for it's low profile. It's about 2/3 the height of the average ball head.It has a single knob for adjusting both the ball head position as well as the base rotation. This makes adjusting it both simple but at the same time, sometimes a bit tricky.I like to use it best with smartphone mounts, though I have also used two of these to put on each end of a camera slider, allowing me to mount the slider on two tripods with freedom to angle it.The build is fantastic. It is by no means a cheap feeling ball head. It is solid as a rock with an excellent, premium feel.

I'm not sure why, but somehow I thought this would work well for me. I'm used to fluid heads, but that's not what I wanted. This works great if you're going to just set up and shoot, but there is no separate pan setting for it. Every time you reset it, you have to check for level. Neewer does sell a similar one to this that does have a pan setting. I returned this head and got one with a pan.Second issue is a design tradeoff. It's shorter, yes, and that's cool, but it makes the controls harder to get at and they get in the way of the camera, making it harder still to do what you need.

Everything works great except for the screw on the quick release plate. The screw thread is bigger than the slot, which is expected, so the screw doesn't fall out. But there is no keyhole to put the screw in or out. It is just forcibly screwed through the slot, and if you accidentally unscrew it from the slot when removing a camera, it is very difficult to put it back through the slot. The solution is to drill a slightly bigger hole at one end of the slot so the screw can be put through. Also, it would be better if instead of a screw, it has a finger tightenable ring on it so I don't have to find a coin everytime I need to tighten the screw.

I attached this to a K&F monopod and then to my rather heavy Nikon F6 film camera. It works well with the monopod, allowing me to quickly rotate the camera from a landscape to a porrtrait shooting position. The combination steadys the camera solidly, reducing or eliminating the camera shake I often get with hand-held shots and slow shutter speeds. It is inexpensive and strong. It makes the monopod more versatile by allowing me to rotate the camera from landscape to portrait position.I like it.

This is the best ball head I've found for plein air oil painting, whether it's for a pochade box or a split panel holder and palette setup. The ARCA plate is beautifully low-profile, the head's grip on it is solid, the weight allowance will cover any modern gear, a single knob frees all movements of the head for quick adjustment, and the lever-shaped knob makes it easy to lock it into place. All in a light, compact, and sturdy package.

Excellent ball head. I needed one small enough for a mini tripod. Most ball heads are either very large and heavy and meant for a full size tripod, or really small and meant for cellphones. This one is slightly heavier than a Joby ball head, but not any larger. The extra weight of the neewer is because of the mounting plate on top which is made of aluminum rather than the plastic Joby. And the Joby is a weird V shape design which is only useful on a Joby ball head, which you need to change out if you want easy useage between standard tripod mounts.Really good quality as always from Neewer, especially given the price point. The body and main tightening knob seem like a high quality ABS plastic and everything else is aluminum. It has no problem handling a heavy load. I'm using a GH5 with battery grip, long lens and aluminum L bracket weighing in at 1680g, and the ball head locks firmly and doesn't move at all. Just a couple quick turns and the plate releases quickly.I've attached comparison pictures showing what it looks like on small tripods vs Joby ballheads. Can't do much better at this price point.

This Neewer ball head is the perfect addition to a monopod or even a tripod. I added this to my monopod to provide a little flexibility while out in the backcountry taking wildlife photos. I can comfortably support my Nikon with a 500 mm lens and not have to worry about missing that critical shot. Yes, it is heavier than most ball heads, but that comes with the rock solid support it provides. For me, the little extra weight is well worth the effort it takes to schlep it down the trail (and well off the trail for that matter). Considering the low price, this is a tool that should be in every photographer's bag (or pack).

I was looking for a small, inexpensive ball head for my GoPro Max and 8 as well as a light mirrorless. I use this on a bunch of different items including a trolley and my motorized slider. It works great! Holds the camera steady, does not slip (which was my worry at this price point) and is very durable.Single use, levers are easy to use and adjust quickly!Would suggest this to anyone looking for a great priced head for a small camera!
