The installation is a little clumsy, but it eventually clicks in fine. I also found it helpful to 'click' or force the little tabs down.Once this was on the fob (removed, reinstalled many times), the fob will not fit into the ignition slot.Could EASILY damage the car by attempting to force.Do not buy for a 2012 Cooper S

I love that I was able to replace the ring for the key fob - my previous one was silver and all the silver had worn off the white plastic and it looked bad. This one I've had now for several months, no indication of the red color wearing off, it is secure around the fob and I've had no issues. When I first got it I thought wow - it's so thin, it's not going to last. But so far, I've been very happy, it's a secure fit and it looks perfect, and I'm pretty hard on it - tossing it on counters, purses, drawers - so it takes a beating.

After seven years of use my two MINI key fobs were looking rather abused with chipped and missing rings. The work perfectly, it was simply their cosmetic appearance...I'd been shopping for replacement trim rings, even found a competing vendors product on sale. I decided to have a look on Amazon where I found these rings. Not only were they less expensive, but with our Prime account the shipping was free. And they're every bit as good, if not better quality than the other vendors product...So two new rings, blue for myself pink for my wife, plus I went ahead and purchased two additional rings for our year old MINI Roadster simply to spruce those key fobs up, and we can tell which key goes to what vehicle as the key fobs are all the same design...They're easy to install and look great. A real improvement that didn't cost much.

I bought a used 2007 R56 with 60k miles and didn't know the ring around the key was missing. It looked great and actually made the key fit a little better... but the car SUCKED and I got rid of that money vacuum as quickly as possible. R56 work done in less than 2 years = banshee scream clutch replacement = $2500, death rattle timing chain tensioner = $1200, leaking thermostat housing replacement = $800, pcv valve failure = valve cover replacement = $400 (yeah it's built into the cover so you gotta replace the whole thing = a $20 job just turned into a $400)Then after all that I got new GT1 tires = $800 and this cool little outer ring for the key = $8. I was looking into new struts = $1500 and the steering column failure light went on (about $1500) so I traded that beyotch in for a 2015 Hyundai Veloster Turbo = $25000 with FULL coverage for 100k miles and I couldn't be happier. Hopefully you are leasing your MINI (I did very much enjoy driving it) and don't have this kind of future in store for you but This little key fancier upper thing is pretty nice!

This little ring solved a simple problem for my Mini and I. The chrome ring that came standard had broken off and caused the key fob to not sit securely into the ignition. With only a few keys attached to the key fob on a hard turn or if my knee touched it, the key fob would fall out of the ignition. My Mini would alert me, if I already didn't know, that the key was missing and that it may not restart the car once it was turned off. It always worked if you put it back in after a stop, but was getting annoying. I looked here and a few other online retailers and found that many were either another cheap plastic or to bulky to fit. This one seemed to look just right.Once it was delivered, I attached it to the key. There is a little gap, and that is normal. The first few weeks it was a little hard to push in, meaning it was a little big, but after a while it became really snug to the plastic and now fits perfectly. The key fob no longer falls out of the ignition, it looks better than the old pealing chrome ring, and just is a cool piece of aluminum.Would I recommend this ring to other Mini owners? Yes, but only to R56 owners. I do not have any other builds, so if its not an R56 I say proceed with caution. Find your Mini chassis in the other reviews here.

I bought this ring for my Mini's FOB because the OEM plastic one was peeling. It was already replaced by the dealer a year ago, and the chrome was peeling off, and it wasn't fitting properly into the slot. My service advisor showed me his red ring and I thought it was cool. So I bought this one, and it is sturdy, and fits into the FOB slot properly. I only gave it four stars because I wished it was closer to my Mini's Chili Red. It's more of a brushed aluminum/metallic red but it is a great alternative to the poor plastic in the OEM ring. I may get the silver and black to change it up!
