This unit was very easy to set up and use. The biggest problem I had was locating exactly where the IR port is on my Blu-ray player. However, once located I simply attached the emitter above it and voila. It stays in place and doesn't shift if the player is moved. It is pretty unobtrusive as well.

Reception of the signal was spotty when I tried to use it, the emitters that came with BAFX and other products were more reliable. When I tried it with the Yamaha receivers, the receivers stopped accepting signals meant for them. My guess is that a blaster uses a lot more power than a simple emitter, and that many products either can't supply the proper current or they become unreliable. For what it's worth, I also tried a 2.5 to 3.5 cable on my Harmony blasters and they never worked on BAFX nor Yamaha. Oh well!

It did not work. Although the description indicated it would be compatible with the IR resources IR repeater kits, this one certainly was not. As soon as it was connected It caused the other transmitters on the kit to stop functioning. The transmitting leds were significantly dimmer. I even tried removing the other transmitters, and connected this as the sole output and nothing. I have to conclude that it is not actually compatible with the IR resources IR extender as I had hoped. It is being returned.

Bought this so that my old Tivo can speak with my cable box. It works. There is a lag sometimes. This is not a big deal if you are doing something on it with the remote but when the lag happens when the tivo is trying to change the channel on the box when setting up to record something programmed, it can cause the wrong channel to record. This happens when the channel to record is a two digit number say 65. The lag will occur and only 5 will register. So instead of the 8pm show that was to record from channel 65 it will record the 8pm show on channel 5. That is very annoying. I'm unsure what is to blame for this. It may not be this IR blaster, it may be either Tivo or the cable box. If anyone knows a solution to this that doesn't require buying new equipment I would love to know about it.

I use this with my PC for TV using Charter provided cable box "Motorola digital" box not HD. Using blaster on front of cable box IR i can use my windows media player remote only. There is some lag from box but that is normal even with the charter remote to the box. lol Works great! Windows 7 with Hauppauge tuner.

Like the other reviewers, I too was planning to by the IR blaster for my Panasonic Soundbar (SU-HTB500), but it was no longer in stock, so I came across this one. My soundbar sits directly in front of the lower panel of my TV, so I'd have to raise my hand up and angle the remote downward in order for the TV IR sensor to be able to pick up the signal from behind the soundbar. (Panasonic obviously had thought about this - they should've just included it with the soundbar.)Shipping was a bit higher than average for the packaging it comes in (and I'm in a neighboring state) - $4.45, but it came very quickly! Total purchase price $13.44.It was packaged in a simple, no-frills, bubble mailer with invoice. The IR blaster comes in a sealed plastic bag with an adhesive for mounting. There are no instructions - a simple instruction sheet would have been nice. How to use this device: Plug it into the IR sensor input on the back of the sound bar. Place the bulb-end so that it is pointed at the TV (or whatever device you want it to send the IR signal to). It works even with the soundbar is off, which is very nice! Point the remote at the soundbar and use the remote. The soundbar IR picks up IR signals and sends it to the device which repeats and emits the IR signal out of the bulb to the TV IR (or whatever device IR you have it pointed at).Simple device that does what it's supposed to. I'd highly recommend it for those faced with the same scenario.

If you have a Panasonic soundbar (SC-HTB10 or SC-HTB500) and need the optional Panasonic IR Blaster (SH-WR10) but can't find it (it's no longer avaialbe from Panasonic, nor even here on Amazon), THIS ITEM WILL WORK!! Installation is simple, it plugs directly into the back of the soundbar just like the Panasonic one (3.5mm minijack). Then from behind the soundbar place the other end, the "blaster" part, aimed directly at the tv remote contol sensor and you're done. Works perfectly. No issues or problems whatsoever, works exactly as the Panasonic one, and the item is first rate all the way. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
