I bought the 1HP Insinkerator Excel Evolution, figuring spending the extra dough would insure that we would never have a clogged disposal for the 10 years the manufacturer warranty covered. Well, this *was* a great and quiet disposal - until it just stopped working with no warning on the 5th year. Just a hum. I was not able to get it turning again even with the jam removal tool. Waste of money? Well, I would say you should never get less than a 1HP disposal, but don't buy this one. Just too expensive if it isn't going to really last through the end of the warranty. 5 years is a long time, but that's only half of the expected life.

Lasted 3 years, then began jamming often. Finally quit working. Called insinkerator for warranty and was told it does not cover “jams”. Buyer beware.

After only 2 years, it started jamming up all the time. We got super familiar with the reset button and the allen wrench. It finally jammed up so badly we could not clear it, and are replacing it.We were super careful the last few months - nothing that could reasonably jam it went down. We put anything we thought might be challenging in the trash instead. Onion skins, cabbage stems, any meat or food scraps that might have gristle or tough parts. 1 HP should handle anything. Now it handles nothing.Replacing with the Moen 1HP tomorrow.

I replaced the builders Garbage Disposal with this Insinkerator and the noise level was very low.

This is a superb disposal! We redid our kitchen and got this to replace a perfectly fine Maytag disposal that we had intended to reuse, but the workers threw away the parts and we were not able to get replacements. This thing is so quiet you aren’t even sure that it is grinding things up, but it is a powerhouse! Does not shake the sink, super quiet, quick, efficient and well worth the money! Our cats aren’t even scared when we turn it on! Highly recommend!

This is an excellent garbage disposal. Despite the large horsepower, it runs very quiet. It is a really nice machine. One thing I wasn't aware of prior to ordering is that the rubber stopper is removable and can be fully washed, which my old disposal did not have.
