Remotely control your Insta360 action cameras with the updated Insta360 GPS Smart Remote. The Smart Remote connects to the camera via Bluetooth, and you can start and stop the camera and control its settings with the large accessible buttons. The remote also receives GPS data and sends it to the camera, saving it with your video and photo metadata on the camera.
The videos and photos with location metadata can then be uploaded to Google Street View via the smartphone app. The remote's display shows clip record duration and battery level, as well as GPS and Bluetooth connection strength. The built-in Li-ion battery takes approximately two hours to charge and lasts approximately 24 hours. The GPS Smart Remote includes a USB charging cable, a wrist strap, and a clamp that allows you to attach it to a selfie stick.

Breaks video feed if camera is in “dashcam” mode. Note this is different than looped recording.GPS signal does not work indoors.

The battery only lasts about 3 hours and it has a unique charging tray. I was recording a 4-day motorcycle trip and this was only good for the first couple of legs each day. I had no way to recharge it on the move. No USB/USB-C or other plug in option comes with it. just a tray to set it on (magnet to hold in place, which is not useful on the move).It was just as easy to press the record button on the camera itself before getting on the MC and forgo the preview. Save your money and skip this product unless you don't plan to use much.If you turn it off, you have to re-establish the Bluetooth connection with the camera anyway, so its somewhat pointless.

I’ve used go pro action cameras for the past 15 years but have had numerous issues with water proofing , overheating and remotes that also drown despite being advertised as water proof. So I decided to switch to insta 360. And I’m sad to say that insta cameras and remote control is even WORSE THAN GO PRO! The remote has a max Bluetooth distance of 10 meters! Yes… I walked up and down the beach with the camera on my kite trying to keep the connection. So much for all the hype! It’s terrible. I’m wondering if it’s even water resistant with its special cover! So if you are using this for kite surfing. Forget it… scroll up or down and search for something else. Not that there’s much else out there!!! I’ve run out of ideas.
