About this item

  • Connect an M.2 NVMe and/or M.2 SATA drive to a desktop computer. Take advantage of NVMe SSD speeds in a desktop computer.
  • M-Key NVMe and AHCI drives interface directly with the PCIe bus. B-Key SATA drives require the use of a SATA cable (not included).
  • Fits a PCIe x4, x8, or x16 slot. Robust design includes mounting brackets and a heat dissipating PCB.
  • Adapts the connectors only. The M.2 drive communicates directly with the PCIe and/or SATA bus. Both slots can be used simultaneously.
  • Compatible with 2230 (30mm), 2242 (42mm), 2260 (60mm), and 2280 (80mm) M.2 drives.

I discovered this wonderful "minimalist" design bracketless Nvme PCI-e adapter in 2020, and have ordered probably a dozen of them since then for builds I have done on HP workstations for myself and customers. Not one has failed, and they work flawlessly. The fact that they don't require taking out a rear bracket to install them makes installation much simpler. They also are so small in size that they will fit in spaces that other adapter won't due to oversized graphics cards and such.I like the fact that the board has multiple large holes in it to allow air to flow from the back side of the SSD, allowing for better cooling than some others out there. I still recommend getting a clamp-on aluminum passive cooler for the exposed outer side of the SSD if it runs hot, as it will prevent thermal throttling by the SSD.The seller, JACOBPARTS, has been quick to answer questions, and ships promptly when it is out of stock in the Amazon warehouse.

Needed something simple to bypass old HP DL380P G8 not being able to boot form NVMe. Used this card, connected to onboard sata port and was able to install ESXi on m2 Sata SSD to boot OS datastore, and then use the NVMe slot for 1TB vm datastore. (in a single PCI slot)All drive bays are left for storage! The two M2 slots are very close, so heat sinks for both cards make it very tight, but was dooable.

This works perfectly for a pciex4 slot. I wouldn't use it for a pciex8 or a pciex16 slot as there are adapters or there where you can add 2 NVMe drives to a pciex8 slot or up to 4 in a pciex16 slot. Might as well get the larger capacity adapters for the slots with more lanes to not waste lanes and allow for future storage expansion.I use this for a 1tb media NVMe ssd. I transferred 500gb of data to this drive from another NVMe connected to the motherboard and it took about 3 minutes. There is a bright led that might ruin your RGB theme if you have one. Try using liquid electrical tape to cover it up. It goes on like rubber cement and a small drop is all you need.

It is a really simple and inexpensive PCIe add-in card for NVME that works perfectly. I have four others (different brand and design) that also work just as great. What makes this one special is that it does not take up much space. There it plenty of room between the motherboard and my vertical GPU installation for it due to its smaller than normal form factor. The cards that I already have won't fit in the same space because of the vertical GPU installation.
