Replace the cable along with the shifter on my old mountain bike. Easy and makes a big difference. Old cable just wore out

Worked perfectly to do two disc brakes and two shifters on my son's mountain bike. It didn't have enough ferrules for my shifter cables, but I was able to salvage two from the old cables so it wasn't a big deal. Very pleased. Great value. Jagwire are good cables. Buy with confidence.I read another review that said there isn't enough cable housing to run to a mechanical disc brake at the back. I didn't have that issue, but the cables (rear brake and both shifters) are bare across the top tube of the frame. I even had some left over. But if I needed to run cable housing the entire length of the bike, it wouldn't have been enough. Same with the shifter cable.

The description "JAGWIRE MOUNTAIN PRO Complete Brake & Shifter Cables and Housing Shop Kit"But the kit contains for the Brake CGX-SL and for the Shifter LEX-SL housing which are both Sport not Pro level. For the inner wire the kit contains JAGWIRE MOUNTAIN Galvanized Brake Cable and Galvanized Shifter Cable, both of these are also Sport level not Pro Level. The Pro level should have had Polished Stainless Cables. So if you want the JAGWIRE Pro level of quality DO NOT ORDER THIS KIT. This kit is the lower quality SPORT level. I really wish there would be some requirement for honesty and accuracy in Product Description on Amazon.

This is a high quality kit and it improved the braking and shifting on my bike. Unfortunately I had to use a section of the old shifter housing because the housing in this kit is not long enough. This seems to be a common enough complaint in these reviews that I believe they should lengthen the amount of shifter housing they provide in the kit. The cables themselves were plenty long.

Everything you need to redo your brakes and shifter cable all in one bag! It's like riding a new bike again (bike is 24 years old!). I highly recommend to get some good cable cutters for cutting the cable and the housing. I used a small file to level off the housing ends after cutting and an ice pick to open up the inner sheath of the housing so the cable would pass through smoothly. Nice product, would recommend to anyone to purchase.

This kit had everything I needed to re-cable my bike. I was impressed and pleased it worked so well.Get the Park Tools cable and housing cutter for these, it really makes a big difference. I tried to get away with a large good quality lineman cable cutting tool, but it just got destroyed and only managed to crush the housing. I eventually drove over to a local bicycle shop and asked to use their tool.

Got the cables set with extra cables for shifter and brakes. Only needed the shifter cable. Found out after that what was really necessary was the actual shifter assembly but didn’t know that until disassembly of shifter. Didn’t want to disassemble until I had cable in hand. Ordered shifter assembly after that and of course it came with a cable replacement as well. So now I have many extra parts. Wish I would have known. But replacement parts worked well.

Really nice kit! I used this for my Trek 820 mountain bike. (I really only use it for trails/beach. It has a triple on the front and 7 speed in the rear).This restored both the shifting and braking functionality to like new, if not better. Housing and cables are upgrades from the original that came with the bike. I was two end caps short for the shifter cables. I actually had some left over from the Jagwire Road Kit I had purchased, so this wasn't a big deal for me. I only say this as you may want to pick up a couple extra, in case you need them. As someone else said, it comes with 8 and I needed 10. Would definitely purchase again.

The cables and housings work correctly. The problem I ran into was, insufficient gear cable housing for a bike that requires housing from both shifters to both derailleurs. This lack of cable housing required me to use old housing, not thrilled about that. So I will need to purchase additional housing. Lesson learned is: measure how much cable housing you need prior to purchase.
