I own a John Deere E110 lawn tractor purchased new in April 2019; this tractor is always garaged other than when mowing. The muffler (GY22156) failed in May 2022 because the weld where the exhaust pipe meets the muffler housing cracked completely. John Deere replaced the muffler on warranty in June 2022. In March 2023, the new muffler failed in the same manner (see pictures). I am suspicious that the mounting bolt that secures the muffler housing bracket to the engine doesn't stay tight which results in more of the muffler weight load being on the exhaust pipe weld joint and vibration eventually cracks the weld. John Deere did not warranty the failure this time so I purchased a new one through AGNLAWN. Their customer service is excellent by the way; part arrived quickly and was OEM exact match. When I installed this muffler, I purchased a longer bolt (M6-1.0 by 30 mm long) and then put a flanged nut on the backside of the bolt so that it could be tightened securely. Time will tell but I think this will fix the issue for years to come.
