Tried in the past cheaper/clone pumps - they never lasted more than few months and at least in one case created a real risk due to malfunctioning. Bilge pump is a critical safety device that must not fail! Pay $10-20 more and get a pump you can trust. The damage from the garbage cheap pumps out there can cost you thousands if not more…After a year of use of Johnson pump at different boat bilge conditions, it proved to be very efficient and reliable. I was looking for a secondary small pump to deal with smaller lower bilge cavities and this pump is perfect for the job. The angled up hose fitting is a big plus when using in tight areas. Bought a second one now as a backup.Highly recommended!

It seems fine but for 1000 gph the discharge port should be bigger, like the Rule pump.
