Centrally Located Ratchet
Brake spreading tool features a 360 degree ratchet swing that can be accessed from any angle and the reversible lever allows easy changes from expansion to retraction, avoiding piston misalignment or brake parts wear. Flip the switch on the handle, turn the plates anticlockwise to retract, and clockwise to expand. This ratchet caliper compressor is used to "push" the piston back, meanwhile unable to twist and compress, which is required by some brakes.
Applicable Types
Smaller set of plates of the caliper brake compressor tool fits for single, twin and quad pistons fixed calipers and floating calipers;
Larger plates are more suitable for some sextuplet pistons fixed calipers.

Easy Usage
1. Flip the switch on the handle, turn the plates anticlockwise to retract, and clockwise to expand.
2. Both steel boards require even pressure to start the ratchet, please squeeze them a few times until they fit into calipers, and then swing them.
3. This ratchet caliper compressor is used to "push" the piston back, unable to twist and compress at the same time, which is required by some brakes.
4. Extended handle can be freely spreaded and retracted, allows for 360 degree all-round rotation.
Caring Tips
1. Pre-lubricate the tool to protect against oxidation between uses.
2. The handle can not be freely turned if there is too short distance between the plate and the handle. Try to flip the ratchet switch, turn the handle repeatedly at a small angle.
3. The handle allows for easy change from spreading to retracting. During the use, you need push pressure inward the spreading plates to make ratchet move.
4. This brake caliper press tool suits for disc brake, not for drum brake.

Recently, I had a pneumatic caliper compressor fail on me. After looking for a replacement and being disappointed with the generic design of them on the market. I found this and gave it a shot.It comes in 3 pieces ( the main unit and 2 oversized plates). The ratchet is pretty simple to use. I tried using it without the ( extra) plates and was not able to fully compress my caliper piston.The entire unit fits pretty well inside a caliper. I put on the plates and was able to compress the piston pretty effortlessly.So some of the “ negatives “- the switch mechanism could use some extra length to ease is switching direction but I understand why it was such a short size. You don’t want to inadvertently switch it to a different direction halfway through and potentially damage the ratchet mechanism. I’ve ruined a ratchet wrench that way.There was no real directions but this tool is pretty self intuitive but it would be more helpful reading that you may need to pre- size the tool before using it ( see the 2nd paragraph).These “ negatives “ are by no means a reason not to buy this.I would highly recommend buying this.

Does exactly what it is supposed to. Made changing the brake pads on my Infiniti QX80 a breeze. Easy to use and seems to be high quality.

I used this guy once and it was great, then went to use it a second time and the retaining clip came out, put it back and it fell out again after spinning the press with just my hand. Metal pieces that stick out for design get caught on pads if you tighten too much and have to force it apart, was hoping for a cheap one while I waited for a nicer one to get here, but I think I'll just wait.
