I bought these to paint on. They are wonderful to paint pet memorials on or even just a small landscape painting. The texture of the natural slate is smooth and yet it adds character to my paintings. I love them for this and I use many of this company’s Charcuterie boards as “canvases” for my paintings. They are perfect for me. I don’t know how they would work for food, however. I have not tried them for food.

I needed some more serving pieces for a Book Club get together. I have used agate slabs in the past and loved them. These gave me the capability of designating the cheeses placed on them. It was fun to write the cheese names as one would write on a chalkboard. Easy to clean. Would buy again.

I needed to find slate tiles but I found out that slate tiles for reptiles are literally just slate coasters that people market for reptiles. Then I found these boards. They are great. The only thing is that they are very fragile on the sides and chip easily. I had to sand them down so they were not sharp. They also are a little hard to clean because they chip VERY easily and get slate clippings in my sink every time I wash them, even with them filed down. They have little feet on the bottom of them that keep it from resting on the counter that work well. I also like that they come with 3 chalk stones to write with. The extra boards I am actually using for the intended purpose. The chalk stones are heavy duty. I was not expecting that.

Although primarily serving boards for cheese and meat, I purchased these slate boards as part of a project to interpret a marsh on my home island. I will use them to paint portraits of birds and insert them in a stone pillar overlooking the marsh. The slate pieces were well packed and arrived on time and in good shape ready for me to etch and paint. They are perfectly suited for the project.

This is a great product. Came on time and was very well packaged. The quality was excellent and it was a simple process to personalize it. I was so pleased with my first order I ordered another four. You have four lines for script so you can choose the position of the writing. . I used line 3 and 4 to get writing just along the bottom and line 2 and 3 to get writing across the middle. Worth every penny!!!!!!
