KBMD-240D Multi-Drive - NEMA-1 SCR Drive The Model KBMD-240D, also called Multi Drive, is a packaged SCR drive in a NEMA-1 enclosure. It utilizes the KBMM speed control for its electronics. The Multi-Drive is rugged and compact in size. It handles both 115 and 230VAC line inputs by setting the built-in Dual Voltage Switch. In addition, the single model can be used on a wide range of motor horsepower by inserting the appropriate Plug-in Horsepower Resistor. The Auxiliary Heat sink (optional) increases the rating of the basic unit. An optional Forward Brake-Reverse Switch Kit is also available.

I purchased this to put on a Rockwell/ Delta wood lathe. It's an older lathe, and I wanted to give myself some of the updated options of todays lathes(forward / reverse / variable speed). I also added a DC reversible motor. With these additions, I have the ease of maintenance of the older lathes and the variable speeds / reverse options of the newer models.

High quality DC motor controller! Purchased this to operate my Grizzly G0765 mini lathe who's board burned up. I cannot say enough good things about this controller. Very smooth operation and runs very cleanly. The fine tuning pots allow the user to dial in all the necessary parameters for stop, torque, startup, etc. I'd go as far to say simply get rid of your mini lathe controller and just install this. The build quality of the board and components are several steps above. Simply a fantastic unit.

Can't complain. Just installed. You do need the HP resistor as stated in the description, so check the user manual you can download online to see what size you need. They're only 5 bucks. You also need to provide the correct line and armeture fuse. The instructions are easy to understand and installation was a breeze. It looks good, mounts easily, and works great. If anything crazy happens I'll update, but for now I see no reason not to give 5 stars.

Warning to buyers who hate surprises: This speed controller requires an armature fuse that is sold separately. Visit the KB electronics website-> find the data sheet for this product -> on page 1 of the data sheet is a chart titled " ARMATURE FUSE SELECTION CHART " -> look up your motors DC voltage and HP to determine the right fuse. These are standard fuses that are not sold by the manufacturer and are SUPPOSED to be supplied by the distributor. Instead, find a set of 5 or 10 on amazon, it'll run you about 6 or 7 bucks.

I installed this product on a wood lathe after the factory speed controller went out. In my opinion it works better than the original. I would have given five stars but they did not include a glass fuse that you have to have, this is not the horsepower resistor that they tell you about, I had that.

Works perfect. Well built! I used it with a 95 VDC / 5.9 Amps Continuous 1 HP DC motor.Requires the Plug-In Horsepower Resistor (9843) and I added the 7" Heatsink (9861).So glad I did. Upgraded my lathe and it work beautifully now with variable speed.
