The French Door Refrigerator Door Gasket is a new gray rubber door seal measuring 23" H x 20" W. If one of the appliance doors won't close properly or you can feel cold air escaping the appliance, replacing the rubber gasket may alleviate these issues. Note that door seal gaskets may also compress over time, causing the appliance to work harder to maintain a constant, cool temperature. Frost may accumulate inside the freezer as a result. To remove any creases or wrinkles from the new gasket, set it in the sun or place it in hot water for a few minutes. Easy to install with basic hand tools like a multi-screwdriver, removal of the refrigerator door, and novice repair experience.

This is the 2nd time I have replaced the door seals in my refrigerator, planned obsolenscence, I guess. These seals while not cheap were 30% less than my local applicance store. I tried the cheap aftermarket order by part number (but they say you have to measurement. Why? What is the purpose of having a part number if it's not the right part. The seals are shipped twisted up. A bit of patience and heat when installing and all is good. Go with OEM first and save yourself the hassle.

I left it out on the driveway in the sun for a day to let it relax and become smooth. Removing the old one and putting on the new one took 90 seconds. I think it helped that it was still warm and soft from the sun when I put it on.

In just 4 months after careful installation the rubber cracked open half the height of the fridge door and the magnet popped out. Plus the magnet seemed weaker than the original.

Does the job, just give the seals time to reshape

Other review comments noted that the magnet strip is much weaker then the original. Yes, it definitely is weaker. Weak enough that when we close the other door, the one with the new strip opens slightly from the air pressure caused by pushing in the other door.

New seal was noticeably lighter and magnets are much weaker than the original on the fridge. Door does not have the same positive feedback of a fully closed door like the original. I have to keep checking to make sure it's closed fully. Really disappointing for an "OEM" part when there are cheaper options that would probably be just as good/bad.

Worked perfectly on my kitchen aid refrigerator and very easy to install. Price was less than half of Kitchenaids price.
