We may have just gotten unlucky and received a faulty one? Bought this to keep a gate outside secure. When we received it, the key was always a little cantankerous to get in and out of the keyhole, but we dealt with it. The lock operates by inserting the free end of the cable into the locking mechanism at the other end of the cable, and it automatically locks into place. After three weeks of use, the lock changed and it won't lock when you insert the free end of the cable. The only way it will lock is if you simultaneously hold the free end all the way into the locking mechanism while turning the key. We returned it and will be looking for another brand

The cable is not very flexible and is a pain to run through your frame and wheels. It’s coiled so tight it won’t totally straighten out. I’m looking fo another lock.

I am an avid motorcyclist & bicyclist, so I'm well aware of the quality of Kryptonite lock products. Been using the 6ft cable locks, the NY Locks, and disc locks for decades. I purchased this lock to secure the spare tire that is mounted on the side of my horse trailer. The 2ft lock is the perfect length to prevent the tire from walk'n away!

I bought this to secure two bikes while at my apartment bike rack and to lock the two together while out riding. I am not rely solely on this for my expensive carbon bike. For that I also bought a Kryptonite folding lock which I also highly recommend. Using both locks together gives me some comfort for shorter stops in NYC. In the country this cable alone would be plenty.As others have noted the cable likes to remain coiled. This is great when carrying it on your bike but strength is needed to secure it around two bikes and a post.

Used a few times. Long enough to lock 2 bikes to a secure rack or to our auto bike carrier. I feel it is thick enough for short term locking in a “safe” environment. For overnight locking use it as a secondary lock to a much thicker chain lock.

The cable lock is simple to use and is flexible enough to wrap around most bicycle racks.I read the combination locks sometimes fail so the key lock appears to be a fail safe option.The only drawbacks are the low security rating and no hardware to attach the lock to the bicycle when not in use.Otherwise it's a fine product that works well.

With Kryptonite, you get what you pay for. The more you spend the stronger and heavier lock you get.

Nice and light and comes with a handy bike holder attachment which secures the lock when not in use.

Very stout. Coiled structure causes the lock to return to a compact for factor but using the full length is a challenge. There appears to be a slotted attachment to store the coiled (unused) lock, but no bike attachment was provided, so I am not sure what value it has. Perhaps over time, the coil will be easier to handle. I need to use the full length to secure both wheels and frame to a deck pylon. All in all a good buy.
