This stuff is trash. Description states it’s “weld type.” It most definitely is not. As soon as I put a layer of p tex over the core shot filled with the kuu strips and tried to scrape, everything rips out. I tried this process three times and the fill ripped out each time. I ended up going to racewax.com and bought a different type of metal grip and it’s night and day the differnce if the hold and the hardening if the racewax metal grip.Don’t waste your money!

After cleaning out the sizeable and deep damage to my Rossi skis where the rocks almost tore my edges off. I preheated the areas with an iron and then used a 2 wattage 'wood-burner' to melt on the welding material. Do it slowly with no smoke. My damage took about 3 or 4 layers. flatten out with your flat wood burner tip. let cool then I used a flat file to finish up.no p-texing needed. look for YouTube vids to help your first time. This pretty serious job consumed about 1/6th of a sitck. Good product.

This didn't seem to have wax in it like a P-tex candle does, so I expect it to hold up much better for the base weld I did.For use with a soldering iron or a base welding tool.

Easier and safer to work with than p-tex candles, but more expensive and the durability isn't any better. The sticks melt easily and adhere nicely to my ski base, and my patches haven't fallen out, even for repairs where the core was exposed. The material is quite soft, however, and seems to wear down after just a week or so of skiing. The patches quickly become concave and soon need to be repaired again. Overall, I do prefer these over p-tex candles, but you don't get a lot of material for the price, and I wish the repairs lasted longer.
