This is made is Ohio. It is not cheap crap from overseas. The welds on this fork are amazing, great penetration and robust. The super heavy duty build can work clay soils with out even a hint of anything bending. The price is very attractive for such a well made fork. Do yourself a favor and purchase one of these while you can. It will outlast any mass produced fork out there.

This thing handles roots, rocks, and densely compacted clay with no sign of bending. It’s strong. Buy it and have fun.

A lot of reviews complained about the oil on the tool and the wrapping. Took me less than three minutes to cut the wrapping off with a utility knife. Personally, for what it is, I thought it was wrapped/packed well. The packing slip explains the oil and mine was no where near saturated, there was just a light coat. Have not used it yet because my ground is clay and hard as rock at time of delivery. I’ll wait until after a good rain and give it a test, but it is built solid and I think it will work well on dampened clay. It’ll be hard labor the first go around for sure, but I think it’ll be a breeze after. I recommend this item because I think it is more heavy duty compared to others. If you don’t have rocky, clay soil, then try a cheaper light duty brand. Giving 4 stars because I haven’t put it to task. Just got it early December 2023

This product came absolutely saturated in oil. LolIt honestly felt like a practical joke.On top of that, it was shipped in just paper and an insane amount of tape which took 25 minutes to unpack. The welding looked like it was done by me.(I’ve poorly welded the legs for a small bench once.)It’s pretty heavy, and it’s rusting up quick too after 3 10 minute uses and stored properly.I’d reccomend this as a bargain item for limited residential use in heavy clay a couple times a year. Absolutely not farm quality. The excessive packaging and saturated in oil thing was peculiar.I understand it’s important to treat some metals with oil to keep it from oxidizing, but there was so much that it made a huge mess and no package should take 25 minutes to dissect.

Breaks up hard clay soil with minimal effort.Solid one piece weld, nothing bolted together.Less expensive than those sold on garden sites.Should last years if not left to rust.

Great craftsmanship on this sturdy broadfork...it is excellent value for the price. I’m having good success using it to turn over rows in my summer garden to prepare them for fall crops. This soil was last tilled 6 months ago and the broadfork has been great for breaking up the hardpan surface and it easily loosens the soil to a depth of 8-10”

This broad fork makes it possible forme to loosen the soil easily to get the roots of the weeds out.I have broken 3 spading forks in the last 3 years...but i am sure this tool will not break..and the way it is built makes it very easy to use leverage on the weeds. It is heavy, but i am 72 and have no problems with it.

Update Oct 2020:I've now used this for four (spring/fall) planting seasons and it continues to be a beast. While it can have trouble penetrating areas of our deep, dry, adobe soil in the fall, nothing short of a power tool is going to accomplish that. But this tool has survived my best efforts to use it. Still five stars. Still unbroken. Still heavy. Still a beast.Original: Mar 2019:I ordered one of these a few weeks ago. It arrived pretty quickly.Other reviewers aren't kidding when they say it's a beast. It's made of heavy metal and includes large, solid welds. I'm not sure I could break it (short of letting it rust outside for a few years), but even if I lost a tine, I'm sure a local welding shop could slap a new one on cheaply.I used it for real for the first time today. The bed I worked probably took less than half the time I've used in the past with a garden fork and I know I was able to get deeper with this tool. We have a heavy clay soil that was still rather moist from recent rains. (We're still mixing in a lot of compost to loosen the soil, so this was probably more aggressive than a typical no-till treatment).Considerations: This is a heavy tool requiring a certain amount of strength and weight to use. If your soil is very loose, you might want to consider a lighter, wider broadfork for your garden. It's not a very wide broadfork, which means I have to do two side-by-side passes for my four-foot wide beds. But it would probably be unmanageable due to weight if it got any wider.Improvement: At this point, the only thing I found myself wishing for was some rubber covers on the handles as I pulled back. Maybe I can repurpose some bicycle handlebar handles or some segments of garden hose.Definitely a 5-star for me. I'll checkin if that changes.
