I have never used a 100% leather leash before. Adopted a young retired greyhound and, it's not necessarily the leash, yet he's doing so well on our walks 2 months in. I need to keep him close because of prey drive and this works well with the gorgeous martingale collar I found for him on Etsy :)

I absolutely am in love with the leash. It is super soft and pliable, easy to handle and easy on the hand. Clasp is strong and construction is excellent. As a trainer, I would not recommend this super soft leather because there's a lot of "give" to it. However, one your pup/dog knows the basic loose leash walking, I would recommend it highly. The eight foot length is fantastic for practicing stays! It is also wonderful to let your dog have a bit more space... and most people don't recognize that it is longer than 6'!!! (Some places have a "six foot leash only policy and this one seems to go unnoticed!!)

Garbage Units, DONT BUY!!! After 6 months, snapped while taking a walk, almost killed my dog. Don't risk your dogs life. Was snapped by a small basset hound.

This leash is extremely easy to hold and doesn't sting your hands as some leashes do when they are yanked hard. It is an attractive color and the woven part looks nice. It is sturdy and will clear last for a long time. I have the 6ft leash as well, that I use depending on which dog and where I am walking. Highly recommend.

Got two of these because my current dogs are bigger than my mini Aussies were, and I wanted a bit longer leash for them. I went with the 6 ft leashes and they are perfect, the leather is supple and I know will break in really well. The loop is the perfect size to go over my hand and onto my wrist, as I walk both dogs together, and use one wrist for both leashes. They don’t cut or irritate my wrist at all. The leashes are sturdy and both dogs enjoy walking with them. Big plus was the price. Much more inexpensive than the original 4 ft leather leashes I had for my smaller dogs. I am super happy with this purchase and would recommend. Plus, they look expensive and I feel pretty good looking when I am walking my adorable furballs with them.

I have always used 1 inch leather leashes with my large dogs in the past. Those were bought at a local feed mill and lasted the lifetime of the dog. We retire leashes with the dogs passing, so when we adopted our puppy Malinois, it was time for a new one. The local store doesn't get them any longer so I went to Amazon. The first leash I ordered was a typical nylon rope type. Yes, they work, but if you wrap the leash around your hand and wrist to change lead length, those ropes will quickly irritate the skin on your hand. I had to use gloves to walk my puppy with the nylon leash. So I ordered the first leather leash from Amazon. It looked tough, but what I received was much thinner than expected and the hardware on it was inferior to what a strong dog requires. It also smelled strongly, so much that the dog would constantly try to chew on it.I read the reviews of this leash and decided to try again. I was pleasantly surprised. The leather is thick and well cut, the metal hardware at the dog end is the strongest you can get before going with rock climbing or rigging hardware. it does not smell, so the dog does not try to chew on it. The material feels great on my skin, is pliable enough to not feel stiff, which will only get better over time. A slight elasticity in the leash, likely because of the braided ends, takes off the edge when the dog suddenly pulls.The included car seat adapter leash alone is worth half the price of this leash. This piece is also well made with a slight bungee in the short throw strap, which should reduce maximum load on the hardware in case of a sudden stop or impact. It is great to have in a car for a dog like ours who likes to wander around from back seat to front seat and even tries to crawl into the driver's lap, not realizing that she is far too large to do that. Great bonus leash.I was expecting another dud based on the extremely competitive price, but was pleasantly surprised by a high quality product. Everyone should walk their dogs on a 6 foot leather leash. They last forever, they let you control the dog, and they are comfortable. Once they break in and develop the patina of thousands of dog walks, they become heirlooms. And in the case of this leash, they don't cost you a fortune, either. Five stars.

This 100% genuine leather dog leash is thick yet pliable which makes it easy to maintain control of my two miniature pinschers with an added adjustable splitter which I purchased separately. The leather allows perfect grip when I need to keep them closer to me and does not slip from my arthritic hands like other leashes I’ve tried. The extra 8-ft length allows my dogs to wander in areas for sniffing and doing their business away from me, while maintaining required control. The yellow brass swivel clip is of excellent quality and perfect size. The added width of the 8-ft genuine leather leash adds to the gripping power of my arthritic hands. Long ago, genuine leather leashes were #1 and still today they are best, tried & true. Highly recommended!
