I got this to replace a cheaper outlet for my EV charger. Nice solid feel. The hex drive for torquing is 4mm (or the very similar inch size). It needs a 2 7/16 hole cover plate. My charger lives outside so I used a two gang, metal, IN-USE COVER from my local home center. It took a lot of rat-tail filing for the large cord of the charger to fit into the opening, so check the fit before you mount it on the box since it might be easier to file off the wall.

Note that this will not work with a standard 14-50R wall plate. This should be noted if you are installing it in an outlet box with a fixed size hole.

Well-rated, high-quality outlet for your EV charger. Don't buy in the stores; those are not rated for the continuous amps that a charger pulls.

This is the receptacle that you want to buy if you’re installing your own EV charger. High usage prongs, very tight and is weather resistant. Excellent connections on the back for wiring and strong metal plate. One tip is that leviton uses a slightly larger cover plate, so buy theirs only; which is cheaper at home depot and plug costs about the same. Do not under size the wire vs. charger load and breaker!

Slightly larger than a standard 14-50 that would already be installed on say an RV panel (like I have with a 30a and 50a already installed). So it will not fit on all replacement situations.Looks to be a quality build. But sadly cannot use.

Got it for my mobile Tesla charger. It’s EV rated so you can plug and unplug it more often than the cheaper ones, don’t go cheap with your garage and a 50k plus vehicle it just ain’t worth it.

This is a top-quality, heavy-duty receptacle, exactly what is needed to plug an EV charger into. You can clearly see the improved design features and superior build quality, which are very important for the high duty cycle associated with EV charging. I would not use an inexpensive receptacle for this purpose due to the risk of overheating/fire. This Leviton receptacle is designed specifically for EV chargers and is rated for outdoor as well as indoor use.
